Thread: Windows 10

Un articol si o lista interesanta:
Problems which are present in every version of Windows for PC

    • Devastating Windows rot (might be solved in future Windows releases).
    • No enforced file system and registry hierarchy (I have yet to find a single serious application which can uninstall itself cleanly and fully). The $USER directory in Windows, specially in Windows 10, is an inexplicable mess.
    • svchost.exe (the whole philosophy of preserving RAM this way became outdated years ago).
    • No true safe mode (rogue applications may easily run in it).
    • No clean state (for most OEM installations out there).
    • The user as a system administrator (thus viruses/malware - most users don't and won't understand UAC warnings).
    • No good packaging mechanism (MSI is way too fragile).
    • No system wide update mechanism (which includes third party software - to be fair there are 3d party applications which offer this functionality, but then such applications don't support core Windows updates).
    • In certain cases it's extremely difficult to find or update drivers for your hardware devices (anyone who's tried to install a fresh Windows onto their laptop will testify).
    • Windows is extremely difficult to debug (e.g. try finding out why your system is slow to boot).
    • Windows boot problems are too often fatal and unsolvable unless you reinstall from scratch.
    • Windows is hardware dependent (especially when running from UEFI).
    • Windows updates are terribly unreliable, very slow (to install) and they also waste disk space.
    • Windows cannot replace system DLLs on the fly and restart corresponding services which depend on said DLLs due to its architecture. As a result some system updates require multiple reboots (innocuous malevolence in me requires to mention that in Linux you can even update the kernel on the fly).
    • Windows keeps trying to reinstall failed updates over and over (in certain cases every such cycle of "updating" can render you PC disabled for hours!).
    • There's no way to cleanly upgrade your system (there will be thousands of leftovers), etc.
    • Windows OS installer doesn't give a damn about other OSes installed on your PC and it always overwrites the MBR. In case of already existing Windows installations, it sets the newly installed Windows as the default OS - no questions asked. In case of UEFI booting of other non Windows OSes is unsupported and Windows actively prevents this.
    • WinSxS, though a neat idea, turned into some madness: Windows keeps the versions of files the user won't ever need: for instance the English version of Windows will have copies of files for many other languages irrespective of the chosen locale or MUI.
    • Cryptic error messages (considering the size of the OS, >9GB as of Windows 10, this practice is simply ridiculous).
    • Most malware writers target Windows as the most popular desktop OS, so it has the biggest number of viruses among all other OSes (over five thousand new viruses daily).
    • Windows loves thrashing your HDD.
    • Microsoft programmers are still unable to cope with NTFS fragmentation 25 years after its introduction. To make things worse most Windows applications do not preallocate files thus they contribute to fragmentation even more.
    • Windows anti-virus products oftentimes make your PC less safe - so if you want perfect security and privacy, stop using Windows and migrate to Linux right away.
    • Microsoft has recently decided that you would no longer be able to download certain Windows updates manually. You'll only be able to get them via Windows Update.
    • Microsoft has gone crazy: Windows 10 is now a recommended update for all Windows 7/8.1 users unless you're running their Enterprise versions. That means your computer will automatically update to Windows 10 unless you either disable the Windows Update service completely or set Windows updates to the manual mode.

Băieți, vreau sa fac si eu un clean install dar văd ca nu merge sa imi fac un DVD. Când intru pe pagina respectivă nu se întâmplă nimic. La voi funcționează sau îmi scapă ceva?

Man, suntem totusi in 2016, eu zic sa faci si tu un USB stick. Dupa ce downloadezi iso-ul de pe site-ul Microsoft:

    https://www.microsoft.com/ro-ro/soft...?wa=wsignin1.0

Momentan folosesc metode alternative dar totusi...care-i problema? Sper ca s-a inteles. Am cautat pe web solutie si nimic. Sigur s-a bulit ceva in windows insa...habar n-am ce :/

    Hello Windows Insider,

Another exciting Windows journey has begun.

While Windows 10 April 2018 Update was just released to the general public, Windows Insiders can preview the next version of Windows (RS5) right now.

In fact, we’ve already released several RS5 Windows 10 Insider Preview builds in the Fast Ring. These builds contain the much-anticipated “Sets” feature along with some very interesting updates to features like copy-paste, Windows Search, Notepad and more.

As usual, we’ll be eagerly tracking the Feedback Hub for your comments, votes and suggestions.

    Tips and Tricks
Not sure if you’ve received the latest Insider Preview build? Once you’ve registered your PC by going to Settings > Update & Security > Window Insider Program, and clicking "Get started",1 go to Settings > Update & Security > Window Update and click "Check for updates." If there are no Insider Preview builds listed, you should be all up to date. Get more update tips.

    Windows 10 Insider Preview highlights
Here are some recent highlights, including the build where they first appeared.2 Go here for more details on all the latest Insider Preview builds.3

An easier way to organize your stuff — with Sets. Our earlier Sets experiment is now open to almost all Insiders.4 Sets keeps related webpages, documents, files and apps connected in one, tabbed Window so everything is just one click away. Sets of tabs can even be saved and restored later. To try Sets, open File Explorer, for example, then open a new tab (+), and click on the search box in the middle of the screen to browse the web or open an app or file. (Build 17661)

Sets for Office. If you are also an Office Insider you can now try Sets for Office to group, recall, and refresh data sources for all your projects.5 (Build 17643)

A better way to copy paste. Simply press WIN+V to access our brand-new clipboard experience. Now you can paste from a clipboard history and pin the items you find yourself using all the time. Access your clipboard across any PC running Build 17666 or higher.6 (Build 17666)

Dark theme comes to File Explorer. Along with this top Insider request, we also added dark theme support to the File Explorer context menu, as well as the Common File Dialog (aka the Open and Save dialogs). (Build 17666)

Notepad Search with Bing. To use, simply highlight any words or phrase in Notepad, right click and select “search with Bing”. (Build 17666)

Start Tile folder naming. Simply drag tiles on top of one another to create a folder. When you expand the folder, you’ll see a new option to name it. (Build 17666)

Save time with Search Previews. We have expanded previews to support apps, documents and more. Get quick answers from Bing, links to recent documents, file info and other preview info. (Build 17666)

Easier screenshot sharing. Just press the quick action button in Action Center called "Screen Snip" (or press WIN+shift+S), then add a message and share. (Build 17661)

Acrylic in Task View. We continue to add more Fluent Design to Windows, including a soft blur Acrylic effect to the entire Task View background. (Build 17661)

Roaming Usage. Does your device have a SIM? We’ve updated Data Usage Settings to let you know how much data you are using while roaming! (Build 17643)

Magnifier improvements. Based on your feedback, we made two improvements: 1) your mouse can now be centered on the screen in full screen mode for easier tracking, and 2) we added two more zoom level increments (5 and 10%). (Build 17643)

Bluetooth battery percentage in Settings. In Bluetooth & other devices Settings, you can now check the battery level of your Bluetooth devices. (Build 17643)

A smarter calculator. Windows Calculator now correctly calculates square roots for perfect squares (integers that are squares of other integers). (Build 17643)

Less interruptions when gaming. Focus assist will turn on automatically when you’re playing any full screen game. (Build 17661)

Fluent Design for Windows Defender Security Center. We’ve heard your feedback and we’ve updated Windows Defender Security Center (WDSC) to include the Fluent Design elements you know and love. (Build 17650)

Cortana Show Me now supports voice queries. You can now launch the new preview app with your voice for help with Windows settings.7
