The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is an upcoming sequel to The Witcher, developed by CD Projekt RED. Before Assassins of Kings was officially announced, a video showing the game was leaked on 16 September 2009. On September 18, 2009, CD Projekt RED officially confirmed that the game is in development for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is scheduled for a 2011 release, and it will be shown behind closed doors at E3 next month.Yesterday, through the magic of Facebook, we became privy to a new screen showing our hero Geralt taking a dip with a lovely lady.
It all looks very romantic, which is a lot different from the last outing, where women were collected via trading cards.
This time around, Geralt’s love interests will have their own part to play in the storyline, and will be approached from a cinematic point of view.
“It was important for us to rethink and redesign the presentational aspect of sex, nudity and romance in The Witcher 2,” the game’s senior producer Tomasz Gop told us back in March.
“We focused on this being more bound to the story, and less “collectible”.

CD Projekt has said The Witcher 2 will have quite a few more endings than the original game.
There’s 16 endings to be exact.
While multiple endings may not sound too shocking, here are some other Witcher 2 numbers for you – try not to burst a blood vessel:
According to CD Projekt, the improvements and added accessibility are all thanks to the new multiplatform engine being used for the game, TSOOD, which according to PC Games Hardware is an “English phonetic notation of the Polish term ‘cud,’ which means miracle”.
- There are three different openings.
- It has 256 cut-scenes (150 minutes’ worth) where as the original had 130 (53 minutes’ worth).
- The sequel has over 30 types of armor compared to only five in The Witcher.
- An extra magic sign has been added.
- There are only four load screens compared to 700 in the original.
The site, which was given a demonstration of the game, said there isn’t a improvement in the PC version “above and beyond a higher resolution,” as it’s apparently optimized for consoles – although a PS3 and Xbox 360 has yet to be confirmed or denied.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is slated for 2011 on PC.

The situation is still that we do want to bring the Witcher franchise to console gamers at some point, and we've buit an engine capable of console development... but have made no formal announcements of plans for a console release."

CD Projekt RED has announced a release date for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.
Along with a release date, the firm has promised more “hot news” coming on November 18 during the CD Projekt Conference.
“We’ve decided to move the launch date back a few weeks to afford us more time to polish the game,” aid Adam Badowski, project lead at CD Projekt RED. “Of course, we know that players would like to get the game as soon as possible, so we hope that they will forgive us! We strongly believe that the extra time spent polishing the title will be well worth the wait”.
Apparently, at the conference later on this week, there will be more detailed information about the approaching worldwide launch of the title, as well as the Collector’s Edition of The Witcher 2. Moreover, CD Projekt RED will present pre-order information from all around the world.
During the conference, the the developers will explain their philosophy with regards to DRM implementation in their titles and they will let us know how it influenced the edition of the game.
The conference will be transmitted online and will start November the 18t at 18:30 CET (9:30 PST) on the official Facebook page for the game.
