Now, 11 years later, Six Days in Fallujah is back as a tactical military shooter based on the real-world events, in development by former Halo and Destiny makers.

Victura, which was founded by former Atomic Games CEO Peter Tamte in 2016, is the Seattle company behind the revival, with Golem studio Highwire signed on to make the game. Highwire was created by Jaime Griesemer, who was lead designer for the original Halo and Destiny games, Marty O'Donnell, who was audio director and composer for Halo and Destiny, and Jared Noftle, who co-founded Airtight Games.

In its announcement, Victura includes a quote from former Marine Sergeant Eddie Garcia, who was wounded during the Battle for Fallujah and proposed the original idea for Six Days in Fallujah in 2005:

"Sometimes the only way to understand what's true is to experience reality for yourself," Garcia said.

"War is filled with uncertainty and tough choices that can't be understood by watching someone on a TV or movie screen make these choices for you. Video games can help all of us understand real-world events in ways other media can't." [...]

Six Days in Fallujah is due out on PC and consoles at some point in 2021.

A prominent Muslim advocacy organisation has called for PlayStation, Xbox and Valve to drop controversial shooter Six Days in Fallujah.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights charity in the US, issued the call in a press release which brings the game's subject matter back into the spotlight once again.

Calling the game an "Arab murder simulator", CAIR linked to Rebekah Valentine's recent article for IGN on the game, "Six Days in Fallujah Is Complicated and Painful For Those Connected to the Real Events," and an article from Turkish-state owned news outlet TRT World, "Six Days in Fallujah reveals the gaming industry's Islamophobia problem."

In its statement, CAIR said game would "only normalise violence against Muslims in America and around the world".

"The gaming industry must stop dehumanising Muslims," CAIR spokesperson Huzaifa Shahbaz said. "Video games like Six Days in Fallujah only serve to glorify violence that took the lives of hundreds of Iraqi civilians, justify the Iraq war, and reinforce anti-Muslim sentiment at a time when anti-Muslim bigotry continues to threaten human life."

Now Six Days in Fallujah is back, with Highwire Games as its new developer, Victura as its new publisher, and brand-new technology and direction to try and valorize a battle that its creators feel hasn’t gotten due attention (despite numerous books, documentaries, Fox News recreations, and even an opera that all center the perspectives of U.S. Marines).

Its return has not been warmly welcomed by everyone in the video game community. IGN’s Rebekah Valentine spoke with Arab and Iraqi game developers exhausted and infuriated by the game. U.S. military veterans John Phipps and Tristan Greene have also spoken out against the game’s revival.

For all the attempts to avoid the controversy that tanked it the first time, Six Days in Fallujah’s developers are intent on using imaginative and innovative game tech for what is ultimately a vile end: sanding off the edges of an attack led by U.S. Marines that left hundreds of Iraqis dead, thousands of homes laid to waste, and long-lasting health consequences still impacting the city’s residents today.

LE: abia astept sa apara jocul, poate chiar o sa-i dau o precomanda.
Este exact jocul despre razboiul din Irak ce asteptam sa vina dupa Medal of Honor 2010 despre razboiul din Afghanistan. Mi-ar fi placut sa apara mai multe shootere inspirate dupa istoria celor doua razboaie de acum 20 ani, nu cu scenarii fictionale gen Battlefield sau Modern Warfare in care americanii se bat cu rusii.
