Dupa lungi cautari Bungie, producatorii unor serii celebre cum ar fi Halo, Myth sau Marathon, si-a gasit un publisher: ActiVision. Acestia au semnat un contract de publicare a titlurilor pe care Bungie le va produce in urmatorii 10 ani. Noul proiect va fi multiplatform, dar platformele pe care acesta va fi lansat nu au fost precizate. De noul univers se va ocupa Jason Jones, producatorul Marathon. ActiVision se bucura, considerand ca noul IP va deveni in curand un best seller.

Odata cu acest anunt au inceput sa apara si declaratiile greilor din industrie. Analistul Michael Pachter crede ca acest joc este in productie de foarte mult timp si ca va avea vanzari record, de peste 10 milioane de exemplare. In timp ce Sony Computer Entertainment considera aceasta miscare o veste extraordinara pentru toti gamerii din lume.

Noul joc ar putea fi prezent la E3 2010 care are loc la mijlocul lunii Iunie. Online-ul ar putea reprezenta un element central in joc, un lucru caracteristic pentru ultimele jocuri produse de Bungie, desigur seria Halo.

Cu aceasta ocazie am aflat si veniturile generate de franciza Halo. Milioanele de jocuri vandute in intreaga lume au adus in buzunarul Microsoft peste 1.5 miliarde de dolari.

10-Year Alliance Expands Global Reach for Leading Game Developer Across Multiple Platforms

London, UK – April 29, 2010 - Bungie, the developer of blockbuster game franchises including Halo, Myth and Marathon, and Activision, a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, the #1 online games publisher (Nasdaq: ATVI), announced today that they have entered into an exclusive 10-year partnership to bring Bungie’s next big action game universe to market. Under the terms of the agreement, Activision will have exclusive, worldwide rights to publish and distribute all future Bungie games based on the new intellectual property on multiple platforms and device. Bungie remains an independent company and will continue to own their intellectual property. Additional terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The groundbreaking alliance will provide Bungie its first such partnership since splitting off from Microsoft in 2007, significantly broadening its global reach by providing the resources and support to develop, distribute and release games worldwide on multiple platforms and devices.

Activision will broaden its portfolio with a new franchise from one of the industry’s most creative, successful and proven studios, whose games have sold more than 25 million units worldwide. To date, Bungie’s Halo games have generated approximately $1.5 billion in revenues, according to The NPD Group, Charttrack and GfK. Activision expects this agreement to be accretive to its operating margins as of the release of the first game.

For Bungie? As far as right now, currently, yes. This is our last Halo Bungie game. Now in the future, who knows? You can never say never, because things change. Maybe ten years down the line we decide to make another Halo game, but for right now, yes. This is it for us.
