Id Software is hoping that RAGE, the post apocalyptic first person shooter coming in early October, will change how gamers perceive the company.

Speaking to Spong Tim Willits, who is the creative director working on RAGE at id Software, stated, “I believe when RAGE ships though, that it will change the perception of the company. I think that our hardcore fans will get it and love it, and we will actually get some new fans.”

The developers believes that console gamers particularly will be able to see what id Software can go on their devices and will see as more than a PC company that created Doom and Quake.

Willits believes that there are more than 75 new million fans that could love his company after RAGE is launched.

The development team has already said that it has plans for RAGE downloadable content and that it will also create other titles using its new id Tech 5 engine.
