    If you're struggling to notice any differences, you're not alone.     Microsoft's dev team at the Coalition already showed off a Gears 5 Series X build in March of this year, though this revolved around content capped at 60fps. This showed the game's campaign mode nearly reaching parity with the PC version while offering updates to its global illumination model. In the months since, the PC version has apparently adopted some of those illumination tweaks, so like-for-like comparisons show the PC version narrowly beating that of Xbox Series X on a visual basis, primarily due to superior ambient occlusion on the PC version... but, again, that's a PC version jacked up to "ultra" and "maximum" settings while running on an i7-8700K and RTX 3080. For pretty much every other graphical element you can think of (draw distance, shadow resolution, geometric detail), Series X is neck-and-neck.

    When it comes to load times, the Series X version of Gears 5 handily beat out even a high-end PC equipped with an NVMe 3.0 drive (which stored both the Windows OS and the game). After testing a variety of Gears 5 campaign save files, I found a 75 percent improvement for the console version; 53-second loads on my PC were as short as 12 seconds on my Xbox Series X for identical content.

    In case you skimmed over that paragraph: That's not comparing Series X load times to older consoles. That's comparing Series X load times to a top-of-the-line PC.

    Then, as for skins, Curnoe said you'll be able to use any you've unlocked. The one anyone will be able to use, though, is a special skin for Marcus Fenix.

    Batista Joins the Campaign
    Batista, Dave Bautista's WWE persona, made his first appearance in Gears 5 multiplayer. After plenty of support and enthusiasm from Bautista and the community, Batista is getting his Gears 5 campaign debut as an optional skin for Marcus Fenix complete with a new voice over.

    "He had his fan campaign on Twitter, vying to be the star in the much talked about movie ideas and things like that, but this is a great way of delivering that to fans," Curnoe said. "And of course he was super excited to participate when they did the skin for multiplayer. I think doing this in the campaign was just a natural evolution to say, okay, well the fans and him have said they want Batista as Marcus, so let's actually make it happen."

    To feature Batista in the campaign, all players need to do is choose to equip the Batista skin for Marcus when starting a new game. Then, any instance you'd see Marcus, you'd instead see and hear Batista.

    Operation 5 Brings Versus Changes
    Gears 5's multiplayer has had a number of large updates called Operations since launch, and Operation 5 features a change that came directly from player feedback.

    "What we've really done there is try to make a lot of the game more accessible, not only for people coming back, but also the people that are new to the game. We've done things like separation of characters in classes, which were funny," Alex Grimbley, Gears 5 executive producer said. "When we first launched the game, certain characters were tied to certain classes, which was a really cool system for us and there were a lot of people that really liked that system. But if we thought about how we want to kind of move forward, just giving players more choice was one of our key things. Giving the players the choice to choose which class they want to apply to which character is I think really powerful."

    In past Operations The Coalition also introduced an earnable currency for the store, a new ranked system, and plenty of other maps and changes. Going forward, though, Grimbley said The Coalition has aspirations to make their Operations have stronger themes to tie any new content or maps together as an added bonus for fans of the franchise. They're also committed to developing more maps for each Operation.

    Astept ca cei de la Coallition sa-si scoata capetele din **-uri si sa marasca putin gamerscore-ul la achievementurile de campanie cum au facut la Gears 4, sa nu mai ai 150/3000G daca ai ales doar sa termini campania.

    Am inteles, e bine si cu 5600 de fps-uri dar hai sa le dam niste rewards si celor care aleg sa se bucure doar de campanie.

    dezamagitor dar cred ca nu au reusit sa optimizeze jocul pentru ca nu a fost facut initial cu series x in minte...plus niste îmbunătățiri precum global illumination care nu sunt pe versiunea de PC....ca o comparatie, un rtx2080 duce lejer 4k nativ/60fps ultra si e comparabil cu gpu de xbox

    Da. Oricum zic si DF ca mai urmeaza un patch pentru lansare. Posibil sa imbunatateasca cumva macar acel 60fps stabil.
    Cu rezolutia nu au ce face, nici macar la cum arata jocu asta.

    sigur vor imbunatati....am gresit placa, rtx3080 reuseste 4k nativ/60, in unele frame-uri ajunge si la 56fps! vorbim de o placa de 700euro

    Problema cea mai mare este ca se folosesc de niste "tehnologii" care sunt ca un cancer pe console, gen Dynamic Resolution sau VRS (Variable rate shading), in loc sa se focuseze pe calitate/claritate, chiar si la o rezolutie mai mica, dar fixa.

    Daca ne uitam la prima poza atasata, este penbil sa vedem astfel de rezolutii pe next gen si ne intrebam - ce naiba am avut pana acum?
    Pentru ca pot sa jur ca acelasi lucru era valabil si la One X (ce vedem la Series X acum).

    Problema e ca nu e clar daca e asa doar un frame random luat de ei sau cat de reprezentativ e.
    Corect ar fi trebuit sa zica: 80% din timp jocul ruleaza la 2400x1200, 15% din timp la 2800x1400 si 5% din timp la 1600x800.
    Peste toatea astea cel mai absurd e ca jocul are un "4k" stamp si aia e - desi e posibil ca in 4K sa stea 1 frame odata la 2h, cand stai pe loc si te uiti la pamant sau la cer.

    Problema e ca dynamic resolution aia e cancer, e mai rau decat fara antialiasing pt ca nu e constant, ai zone cu fine details urmate de zone cu ditamai pixelii vizibili peste tot.

    Also, in clipu de mai sus, DF zice de VRS - "basically allows for a higher average resolution" - asta e fals - ce face VRS e ca iti lasa zone in imagine cu lower resolution, e half si quarter resolution (chiar le si zice apoi: red = full resolution, yellow = half resolution, green = quarter resolution).

    Perceptia pe care ei o lasa pt average user e ca VRS = good thing, increases resolution cand de fapt nu e deloc asa. VRS e un cancer si sper sa dispara cat mai curand din jocuri.

    Daca facem o analogie, tot ce tine de ecrane e "hai sa facem ecrane mai bune ca sa vedem more details in the shadows" (HDR) in schimb VRS = hai sa avem quarter resolution in the shadows

    In schimb, series S pare o gluma, 720p - stai sa vezi cand vom avea actual next gen engines care vor avea mult mai multe detalii in joc, texturi mai mari si multe poligoane si raytracing in toate. Ce vor face cu Series S? 720p standard si va scadea la 480p? Asta pe un TV 4k?

    Astfel ca daca la PS5 totusi apreciez acel controller care aduce ceva nou la "next gen", fara el nicio consola nu este "next gen", future proof, samd. Toate sunt facute in asa fel incat sa se implementeze cat mai multe metode de a ne pacali ca jocul ruleaza la o rezolutie, cand de fapt el ruleaza mult inferior.

    Dacă citește cineva postul tău în grabă, o să creadă că-n curând ajungem să jucăm în 240p pe noua generație.

    Exagerezi. XSS e o consolă care se adresează unei mase demografice formată din copii și oameni fără pretenții.

    Da, va atinge și 720p, dar alea vor fi momentele de excepție.

    Și ar mai fi un aspect. În lume încă sunt sute de milioane de televizoare 720p/1080p. Plus că nu te obligă absolut nimeni s-o cumperi, de data asta implementările se vor face în mod dinamic, o consolă nu va mai fi trasă jos de alta.

    PS: Mai sus am expus doar un punct de vedere. Nici mie nu-mi place deloc ce oferă XSS. Dacă avea disk drive, mai discutam. Mi se pare inutilă pentru nevoile mele. Nu aș cumpăra-o nici măcar ca a doua consolă.

    Ba fix asa va fi. Va fi nevoie ca toate jocurile sa mearga si pe lower consoles, ca si pana acum. Asta inseamna ca nu doar rezolutia va fi scazuta pe Series S, asa cum spun ei, dar ca detaliile vor ramane la fel. Vom vedea in curand diferente de absolut tot, de la draw distance pana la calitatea umbrelor, texturilor, nr de poligoane, samd.
    Pentru ca asa cum am mai zis, diferenta dintre SS si SX este monumental de mare si efectiv nu are ce cauta o consola mai slaba decat One X, pe lista de console next gen.

    Ai rabdare sa iasa true next gen engines, in 1-2 ani, sa vezi atunci ce impact va avea pe acest XSS.

    Also, inteleg ca tu consideri ca XSS se adreseaza unei mase demografice formata din copii si oameni fara pretentii. Parerea mea e alta.
    Stiu foarte multi care si-au facut precomanda la XSS doar pentru ca e mai ieftin. Iar oamenii aia sunt cei care au precomanda si la PS5 si apoi le vor compara - ca uite bah, acelasi joc multiplatform merge mai nasol pe XSS decat pe PS5.

    Exact cum se compara si acum PS4 Pro cu X1S - because stupid people are stupid si au si platforme prin care sa se faca auziti.
    Chiar stiu un caz recent (de anu trecut, cred) cu cineva care compara Control pe PS4 Pro vs X1S si zicea "uitati bai ce mizerie ofera Xbox pe consola lor (care nu e base console ca base PS4) si in ce hal arata si merge comparativ cu 'mnezeul consolelor, PS4 Pro - si nu, nu glumesc

    Acum ce să zic, dacă există cineva care își cumpără XSS ca s-o conecteze la un TV 4K, atunci nu e vina nimănui.

    E o consolă limitată, să zică mersi că pot juca titluri next gen în dinamic/1080p și în funcție de mod și rezoluție cu Ray Tracing activat.

    Five Maps

    Operation 5 features five maps: two completely new and three classic updates.

    New Maps: In Nexus, players will fight amongst rivers of Imulsion in this Locust stronghold deep under Mount Kadar. Regency is set high above the clouds inspiring both awe and fear.
    Classic Maps: Three favorite maps from the original Gears of War trilogy make their return. Gears of War staples Gridlock and Clocktower join the list, as does River, a classic Gears of War 2 map.

    Separated Characters and Classes in PvE

    A major overhaul to Horde and Escape has separated characters from classes. Now you can pair any character with any class, even characters that were previously not available in Horde or Escape. Want to create an all-Marcus super squad? Now you can! Choose your character, choose your class and dominate the Swarm.

    Seven Characters

    All seven characters joining the roster this Operation are callbacks to the Locust War. Dizzy Wallin and Tai Kaliso face off against the deadly Skorge from Gears of War 2. Anya Stroud takes on the Lambent Drone, Lambent Grenadier and Lambent Theron Guard from Gears of War 3. Pick up Dizzy, Tai, Anya and Skorge as part of the Operation 5 bundle.

    Optimized for Xbox Series X|S

    Gears 5 multiplayer now supports 120 frames-per-second in Versus multiplayer for both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. On Xbox Series X, visual fidelity jumps to 4K Ultra resolution courtesy of the Ultra-HD pack and Ultra-Spec graphics quality settings previously only available to PC players.

    Additional Feature Updates

    In addition to the major changes above, the team added new features and balance changes which continuing to improve and refine the game:

    - A suite of Ranked PvP updates to improve the overall player experience
    - PvE balance updates for decoupled classes
    - New Heroic cosmetic rarity to reward our most dedicated players
    - All-new daily and weekly PvE challenges and rewards

    Gabe Diaz Coming to Gears 5

    The previously announced Armored Gabe character skin is now available with Operation 5. Players who complete the Gears Tactics tutorial will automatically unlock him once they log back into Gears 5. This will be the exclusive way to unlock him during the holiday period.
