Intel a cumparat recent Basis Science, o companie care produce un fitness tracker high-end numit Basis band. Bratara Basis este mai mare si mai scumpa decat alte fitness trackere de pe market, insa ofera si mai multe caracteristici. "Basis Health Tracker has five sensors running all the time tracking the stuff you might expect like steps, calories, and things that other accelerometer devices do," CEO-ul Basis Jeff Holove a spus celor de la CNET. "But the important thing is at a sensor and algorithm level. We're getting beyond steps to real physiology. So things like skin temperature, perspiration, and heart rate."
Intel vede aceasta ultima achizitie ca un mare punct de intrare in marketul de health-tracking devices. "The acquisition of Basis Science provides immediate entry into the market with a leader in health tracking for wearable devices", a declarat Mike Bell, vice-presedintele Intel. Din pacate nu au fost dezvaluiti termeni financiari.
Intel a inceput sa investeasca in device-uri care pot fi purtate, anul trecut compania investind in rivalul Google Glass, Recon Instruments. Deasemenea compania a anuntat si noua linie de chipuri Quark pentru wearable devices.
