Tucked inside version 1.1 of Apple’s iBooks app was some artwork indicating that screen resolution has been doubled for the iPad 2. As the photo shows, the app’s bookmark icon has four versions—iPhone, iPhone Retina Display, iPad and iPadx2. After this photo was leaked, Apple pulled the artwork from the versions of iBooks. What did it reveal? That the iPad 2 will have a 20481536 resolution screen, a major jump from the 1024768 of the current iPad. This would be one reason why Apple is upgrading the GPU, since it will have a higher resolution to drive.
