XBMC + Linux Media Center = GeeXBoX

XBMC-ul nu cred ca mai are nevoie de nicio prezentare, el fiind practic primul software de tip media center disponibil pe consola Xbox inca din 2003. Intre timp lucrurile au evoluat si XBMC poate fi downloadat si instalat atat pe PC-uri cat si pe iOS (Android e inca in development). Insa cei care doresc sa-si construiasca propriul player/media center la un pret cat mai mic, exista acum inca o solutie: GeeXBoX. Aceasta este practic o distributie Linux care se bazeaza pe XBMC, gandita astfel incat sa fie cat mai light (imaginea avand 140MB) si sa ruleze pe cat mai multe device-uri posibile.

Astfel, GeeXBoX poate rula pe device-uri cu ARM (cum ar fi TI OMAP4 Pandaboard sau nVidia Tegra 2), netbook-uri sau (si aici vine cireasa de pe tort) miniPC-uri precum Rasperry Pi. Asta inseamna ca puteti sa va construiti propriul media center cu maxim 50 USD!
