Se pare ca si Comisia Europeana se pregateste sa se opuna deal-ului: EU will reportedly object to Microsoft-Activision Blizzard deal | GamesIndustry.biz .
Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard will face an antitrust challenge in the European Union, Reuters reported today.
The news outlet's sources said the European Commission is preparing a statement of objections around the deal that it will send to Microsoft in a matter of weeks.

UK Blocks Microsoft’s $69 Billion Activision Deal
Microsoft Corp.’s $69 billion takeover of Activision Blizzard Inc. suffered a hammer blow after Britain’s antitrust watchdog vetoed the gaming industry’s biggest ever deal saying it would harm competition in cloud gaming, in a move that could set the tone for the world’s biggest regulators.
The Competition and Markets Authority said its concerns couldn’t be solved by remedies such as the sale of blockbuster title Call of Duty or other solutions involving promises to permit rivals to offer the game on their platforms, according to a statement Wednesday. Microsoft said it will appeal the decision.

    The proposed remedies

To address the competition concerns identified by the Commission in the market for the distribution of PC and console games via cloud game streaming services, Microsoft offered the following comprehensive licensing commitments, with a 10-year duration:

    - A free license to consumers in the EEA that would allow them to stream, via any cloud game streaming services of their choice, all current and future Activision Blizzard PC and console games for which they have a license.
    - A corresponding free license to cloud game streaming service providers to allow EEA-based gamers to stream any Activision Blizzard's PC and console games.

About Putting PlayStation Out of Business, Lawsuit Claims .

Microsoft, FTC square off in Activision trial - in procesul asta se discuta despre cum jocul Indiana Jones trebuia sa fie multiplatform inainte de achizitia Bethesda:
The FTC raised the issue of Microsoft and double standards, arguing that it has tried to keep games in its portfolio off of competing platforms, including titles from ZeniMax, the publisher it bought in 2021.
    • An FTC lawyer questioned Bethesda publishing chief Pete Hines, who confirmed that a planned Indiana Jones game, first slated for multiple consoles, was switched to Xbox-only after the acquisition. Pressed by the judge as to why, Hines said the decision was based on hitting a licensing deadline, and "reducing risk" around making sure development of the game went well.
    • Microsoft has argued that it considers most games on a case-by-case basis but is not incentivized to take Call of Duty exclusive.
    • The FTC says Microsoft can afford to take a loss to harm its competitors.

Sony was never seriously worried about losing access to Call of Duty if Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard, a bombshell email revealed last night has suggested.

The message, sent by PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, was quoted in court by Xbox last night as the US Federal Trade Commission began its hearing into Microsoft's attempted $68.7bn Activision Blizzard buyout.

"It is not an exclusivity play at all," Ryan wrote in an email to former PlayStation Europe boss Chris Deering. "They're thinking bigger than that."I'm pretty sure we will continue to see COD on PlayStation for many years to come," he said. "We'll be okay. We'll be more than okay."

The message strikes a very different tone to Sony's public stance on Microsoft owning Activision Blizzard, and the arguments it has put forward to regulators around the world so far.

    - Microsoft vrea sa fie inclusa Switch in componenta pietei consolelor, FTC nu
    - Microsoft uneori accepta 80/20 revenue split
    - Spencer: "the console wars is a social construct"

    ---------- Post added 24-06-2023 at 19:25 ----------

The Last of Us, Fable, Zelda.
