When asked about the tech behind the upcoming Mortal Kombat X, series co-creator Ed Boon tweeted that the game, like its predecessor, will be running on Unreal Engine 3.

"[Mortal Kombat X will be] using our highly self-customized version of Unreal 3," Boon tweeted. "60fps 1080p!"
