We have new details on Doom, including many bits about gameplay.
No need to pick up the chainsaw and BFG anymore, as they’re permanent context specific weapons. Chainsaw is down on the d-pad and the BFG is X. The BFG now seems more like a panic button than an overpowered weapon. Chainsaws can deal one hit kills, but require more hits on bigger enemies. It uses power cells, which are limited.
Weapons are moddable. For example, you can add a remote detonator to the rocket launcher.
Enemies have weak points, so you’ll want to actually aim properly instead of panic shooting this time.
You can get permanent character upgrades. For example, upgrades will increase your health, ammo capacity, and swap weapons faster. There are also temporary upgrades, referred to as runes. Rather than fading, these upgrades can be swapped around.
