Xbox One owners who pre-order a digital copy of id Software’s
DOOM through the Xbox Store will also receive a free copy of the original
DOOM and sequel
DOOM 2, Microsoft has announced.
Codes to download the games will be sent to customers who pre-order within seven to 10 days of their order being placed and can be played on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One through the console’s backwards compatibility feature. Microsoft says the offer will only be available “for a limited time”.
Pre-ordering the game digitally through the Xbox Store costs $59.99.
In addition to the free games, customers who pre-order also receive the Demon Multiplay Pack which includes a “unique Demon-themed armour set”, three id logo patterns which can be applied to armour and weapons, six exclusive metallic paint colours, and six Hack Module which act as “one-use consumable perks”.
Previous games such as
Dark Souls 3, Just Cause 3, Rainbow Six Siege, and
Fallout 4 have all launched with at least one game from their respective series as a free backwards compatible bonus for pre-order customers.
