Hideo Kojima Talks Death Stranding's Theme, Bonds with Sony; Teases Hints and "Misleads" in the Trailer
After yesterday’s reveal at The Game Awards, Death Stranding Director Hideo Kojima took to Twitter as he usually does, to talk about the game’s themes and the trailer itself.
First of all, Kojima-san mentioned that the theme is about the strand that humanity will loose in the near future, with story, characters and gameplay all being connected to that theme.
Secondly, he also hinted at the game development bond with the folks at Sony Interactive Entertainment, that spans development itself, public relations, and the casting team.
Kojima-san also talked about the trailer itself, explaining that there are various hints and misleading elements hidden in the video, which certainly seems to be his usual style.

Keighley: Kojima Was Locked Away from His Team During MGSV's Last Six Months of Development
Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards 2016 are about to begin at the time of writing. Before the highly anticipated event at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California Keighley was interviewed by Glixel.
While the whole article is well worth a read, Keighley also revealed a particularly nasty aspect of Kojima’s last months within Konami we weren’t aware of.
I haven’t talked much about that, but it was such a difficult time because he [Kojima] was going through a lot last year. The fact that he finished that game under those circumstances is just amazing.
He was locked in a separate room on a different floor than his development team for the final six months of development. He couldn’t even talk to them – he had to talk through someone else. That’s how that game was finished.
Part of what kept me going this year was a belief that we had to be back on the same stage to give him his due and give him the award that he was robbed of last year.
