They claim that they have heard that players will earn cryptocurrency similar to Bitcoin throughout the game's campaign, which will fluctuate in price based on an in-game market similar to the stock market in Grand Theft Auto 5. Of course, this would rule out Grand Theft Auto 6's supposed 80s setting as Bitcoin didn't release until 2009.
Of course, this information is still just a leak so there is no way to confirm whether or not it is accurate. If Grand Theft Auto 6 is set in modern times the leak does seem likely, as the series has taken plenty of opportunities to comment on real-world events and trends before. However, there have been so many rumors and leaks regarding the game that it is difficult to parse out which ones seem likely or more believable than others. Henderson has been right about many leaks before, however, so it could very well be accurate.
Fans will only know for sure, though, once Rockstar Games officially announces Grand Theft Auto 6, or whatever it ends up being called. If cryptocurrency does make its way into the next Grand Theft Auto game it could be a very unique mechanic. It also could be very interesting to see if the mechanic is incorporated in some way into Grand Theft Auto Online, which has become extremely popular as of late thanks to NoPixel's roleplaying server. Many fans are hoping to see Grand Theft Auto 6 at this year's E3 conference, so hopefully, fans will not have too much longer to wait until they get some official information on the game.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to be in development.
