Master Difficulty & Expedition Mode
We’ve introduced a new difficulty level, Master Difficulty, to the game – a true challenge for the most experienced stalkers. Mutants and NPCs are much more deadly. A wrong step into an anomaly may kill. Radiation, hunger, sleepiness, and other effects can be extremely painful. Resources are low. Items are not as durable, and traders are not as economically friendly.
There are plenty of other adjustments for the hardcore enjoyers, but there is one more to mention – saves! Your progress will only be saved when exiting a Hub and within some Main Quest story moments. That's it. This is the peak stalker experience, of course, if you are strong enough!
As for Expedition Mode – this one is for those who don’t want to endure the struggles of Master Difficulty, but want to feel each trip is an Expedition. It has the same progress save system as in Master, but with the option to choose other difficulty levels.
Note: Both Master Difficulty and Expedition Mode require starting a new campaign. You can’t activate/deactivate those from the settings menu in the campaign.
