Resident Evil is an upcoming American horror film directed by Zach Cregger, who co-wrote the screenplay with Shay Hatten, and stars Austin Abrams, Paul Walter Hauser, Zach Cherry, and Kali Reis. Produced by Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions in association with Constantin Film and Vertigo Entertainment, it is distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing and serves as the second reboot of the Resident Evil film series. The film is the eighth installment overall in the series, which is based on the video game series by Capcom.
