''Remember the days when movie tie-ins used to be the worst sort of poorly constructed cash-in designed solely to rake in a few extra merchandising bucks? These days things are certainly looking up on that front. Although there are still a few duds out there, it seems as if video games are now given so much more respect by filmmakers, with even the likes of James Cameron, director of Avatar, insisiting that the game that accompanies their blockbuster is a genuine part of the whole artistic process and not just an inconvenient afterthought. Clash of the Titans looks set to be another case in point, with both the movie and the game due for release in Spring 2010.
In the game, you take the lead role of Perseus, born of a god but raised as a man, on a mission to defeat Hades, god of the underworld. Players will get the chance to do battle with over 100 different enemies taken from Greek mythology, including Medusa and the Kraken sea monster. They will have access to 80 customizable weapons and skills, including combos, ranged attacks and chain seize attacks.
The intense action takes place across 15 mythological environments, with over 80 quests to undertake. If you want to play with a friend, or with the game AI, you can experience the whole game in two-player co-op mode, and PS3 owners can also expect further downloads post-launch. Overall the screenshots look pretty impressive and suitably titanic, let�s hope the game plays as well as it looks!
