Mafia II, developed by Illusion Softworks, will run on the Illusion Engine, an engine created specifically for Mafia II. The first game still used the IS' LS3D engine, and was pretty successful. The new Engine however is supposed to compete with the well known CryEngine 2 (Crysis), and like the CryEngine 2 has DirectX10 support. Aside from that, the Illusion Engine supposedly comes with its own physics engine, which apparently is twice as big (?) as the physics engine used in the previous games, and will offer many different opportunities.
