Hi, i just bought a 250gb xbox 360 S and from the second i turned on the console i noticed that the fan of the power brick is always running at very high speed and it's very very loud. In fact is by far more loud that the console itself. Every time i turn on the system the power brick fan start at very high speed. It is normally? Many xbox 360 s owners admit their power bricks are silent. Should i go back to the store and ask them to replace it for me? Thank you.

Hello Bogdan,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft online support for XBOX. I am April and I will be helping you today.

We received your email concerning about your console that creating a very loud noise.

The sound that is coming out of your console is normal. This is completely expected, and nothing to be concerned about. The sound of the fan and the disc spinning in the drive creates a "whirring" sound when a disc is inserted into the disc drive.

If you find you play some games very frequently, you can also elect to copy the game to the hard disk drive if you have one. After doing this, the game will not access the optical disc drive during normal gameplay.

To deliver high definition gaming experiences, the Xbox 360 packs state-of-the-art processing power into a small package. To create an optimal operating environment for hardware with that kind of power, special considerations were taken to control the temperature of the console by optimizing the speed of the cooling fan. Additionally, the fans may continue to run for a time after you have shut down your console, to help in cooling.

Finally, the Xbox 360 features a high-end disc drive that spins at a very fast rate. These factors combine to enable faster response times and high fidelity, high definition games with more characters and
richer worlds than ever before. We're confident that as soon as gamers see the spectacular Xbox 360 graphics and hear the amazing surround sound in the games, they'll understand why we've packed so much power into the system.

Hopefully this gives you a peace of mind.
