News: Sony uncertain about European launch for PlayStation 4 - Strategy Informer

The PlayStation 4 is currently listed as a "holiday 2013" release, but does this mean worldwide? If we look at past launches, the European market has always been last. Could this change with the PS4?

Unfortunately, it's still uncertain what plans Sony has for a European launch. Speaking with Eurogamer, Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida said that it was "too early to tell" with regards to the launch timing of the PS4 in Europe.

"People in Europe always complain that they're last even when sometimes some things are exclusive to European consumers," explained Yoshida.

It has been heavily rumoured that Sony will launch the PlayStation 4 simultaneously, but it's still possible that we won't see it until 2014 in Europe.
News: PS4 'will not demand always-online connection' - ComputerAndVideoGames.com

Following speculation that the next generation PlayStation would require an always-on internet connection - as an increasing number of PC games do - a senior PlayStation executive said this wouldn't be the general rule for PS4 games.

"You can play offline, but you may want to keep it connected," said Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida.

In an interview with Eurogamer, he added: "Yes you can go offline totally. Social is big for us, but we understand there are some people who are anti-social! So if you don't want to connect to anyone else, you can do that."

But Yoshida added that, if customers are comfortable with keeping their consoles permanently connected, a wealth of services will be available to them.
