    Valve dezvaluie configuratia Steam Machine

Luna trecuta Valve ne-a adus 3 stiri: Steam OS, Steam Machines si Steam Controller.

    • GPU: some units with NVidia Titan, some GTX780, some GTX760, and some GTX660.
    • CPU: some boxes with Intel i7-4770, some i5-4570, and some i3.
    • RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600 (CPU), 3GB GDDR5 (GPU).
    • Storage: 1TB/8GB Hybrid SSHD.
    • Power Supply: Internal 450w 80Plus Gold.
    • Dimensions: approx. 12 x 12.4 x 2.9 in high

Caz in care, personal nu inteleg "what's the fuzz about"?

Un Titan are 270mm x 120mm x 40mm.
Dupa care trebuie luata in considerare racirea... si faptul ca numai placa video consuma 300W in full load.

Anyway, mult prea multe intrebari si prea putine raspunsuri...

    2014 Steam Machine AMD

Valve’s confirmation of the inclusion of AMD and Intel graphics in some Steam Machines in 2014 was preceded by an AMD statement sent around to the press stating the following; “You’ve asked questions around Valve’s recent announcement of SteamOS and Steam Machines – and were wondering if AMD was ‘left out’ from their prototype program. This couldn’t be further from the truth – AMD is very actively engaged with Valve on these products and campaigns. But since we’d like you to hear this from Valve directly, please email Doug Lombardi, who is the Vice President of Marketing at Valve for their official statement on AMD’s involvement in the Steam Machine prototype program.”

Lombardi’s statement, removing any notions that Steam Machines might be exclusively Nvidia, read as follows; “Although the graphics hardware that we've selected for the first wave of prototypes is a variety of Nvidia cards, that is not an indication that Steam Machines are Nvidia-only. In 2014, there will be Steam Machines commercially available with graphics hardware made by AMD, Nvidia, and Intel. Valve has worked closely together with all three of these companies on optimizing their hardware for SteamOS, and will continue to do so into the foreseeable future.”

In the lead-up to its press event at CES, Valve had said that Steam Machines of all shapes, sizes, costs, and performance levels were in the works — some would be small and cheap, others would be high-end graphics powerhouses. Origin PC's Chronos Steam Machine falls into the latter category.
Based upon the company's existing line of small form factor PCs, the Chronos Steam Machine will offer support for up to dual Nvidia SLE GeForce GTX Titan GPUs, 14TBs of storage, and a liquid CPU cooling system. The system will be built-to-order and customizable from top to bottom, ranging from chassis color to component specifications and pre-configured overclocking. Optional dual-boot upgrades will allow users to swap between Valve's Linux-based Steam OS and Windows 7 or Windows 8 on the fly. Like all Steam Machines, the Chronos will come with Valve's wireless Steam controller.
Pricing and availability remains unknown, but the Origin PC says that the Chronos will be offered sometime "soon" this year.

During Valve's CES 2014 event this evening, the company released a brochure featuring images, prices, and specificiations for 13 third-party Steam Machines. Let's take a look-see!
Aside from Alienware, the party pooper, each of the 13 machines at the very least comes with some basic specs, giving us an idea of what to expect from these Valve-approved gaming PCs. Some we've seen earlier today. Others we'll be getting to know more about later this evening. According to Valve's Gabe Newell, Maingear's system was too late to make the brochure, but I'm sure there will be more about that down the line.
So, what do you guys think? That certainly a bunch of PC gaming machines, right?
