TGS: Suda And Mikami Collaboration Title Unveiled To Be Shadows Of The Damned

EA Partners and Grasshopper Manufacture today unveiled the highly anticipated collaboration title from Suda51 and Shinji Mikami, Shadows of the Damned.

Suda and Mikami, as well as audio designer Akira Yamaoka, took to the stage in Tokyo to reveal what is described as a psychological action thriller. Suda, executive producer, also revealed the reasons behind EA becoming the game's publisher.

"The reason we chose EA as our publisher was because they were absolutely capable of bringing this game to a bigger audience, a global audience," he stated. "And of course they showed a great interest and passion for this game."

Shadows of the Damned hits PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime next year. Find the debut trailer below.

Grasshopper Manufacture’s Goichi Suda has said Shadows of the Damned was originally planned for not only PS3 and Xbox 360, but PC and Wii as well.

Speaking in a TGS interview, Suda said he couldn’t comment on why the game would be skipping PC and Wii or about how the game’s tech would’ve worked on Wii – considering it uses Unreal Engine 3.
Suda did reveal that the game, originally dubbed a horror title, had changed over the two years it’s been in development, and the reason for this was that action just seemed the better choice.
“As we developed the game, we found that it would be a lot better with action elements,” he said. “Garcia, the character, is very strong and cool, so we thought we should probably switch to become more of an action game.”
Suda also said the game was still on schedule and and had suffered no internal delays.

Suda51 and Mikami’s Shadows of the Damned Delayed | VGN365

The collaboration between the creator of No More Heroes, Suda51 and Shinji Mikami, the man behind Resident Evil published by EA Games have been pushed back.

Shadows of the Damned has received a new release date, June 21st will be the day North America will be able to get their hands on this very anticipated title. This is good news considering that the old launch date conflicted with one of the biggest gaming events, E3 2011, there are definitely a lot of news and announcement on this year’s edition of E3 so that could have hurt the publicity of the EA title.

Shadows of the Damned is not shy about its inspirations. Early in the game protagonist Garcia Hotspur proclaims that he and his traveling skull companion Johnson are making “our very own road movie.” Like the grindhouse films that it pays homage to, Shadows of the Damned is vulgar, violent, over-the-top, and way more fun than it should be. This is Resident Evil 4 rewritten by a 12-year-old obsessed with d--- jokes. As it turns out, that’s a good thing.
Shadows of the Damned is unapologetically adolescent, but instead of trying to be cutely ironic and wink at players, the humor comes off as genuine, playful, and fun. Even if you don’t find the idea of a sniper rifle called “the Big Boner” funny, you should still enjoy the solidly designed shooting and bit of thought required to play the game. Grasshopper has finally come into its own, and I hope it carries this momentum (and Mikami) forward to whatever project is next.

Imi place lucru pe care l-au criticat astia de la IGN, si anume ca cea mai mare problema este atunci cand il joci. "It feels dated compared to other FPS", mie unu imi place camera asta "over the shoulder" si gameplayul putin mai slow, probabil au vrut si putin survival.

Cu siguranta merita mai mult decat nota 7.Am cautat pe youtube soundtrackul jocului.It is mind blowing,mai ales pentru fanii silent hill.
