Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) President and Group CEO Andrew House has said the PlayStation 4’s control pad and its various functions appeal to both hardcore gaming fans and newcomers alike.
Speaking during an interview with JeuxVideo (via VG247), House said the DualShock 4 can offer non-gamers a smooth transition into the medium when used in conjunction with the camera and touchpad.
“We feel that we have developed a controller interface that is equal accessible to the hardest of hardcore gamers who will get the fullest benefits out of their gaming experiences, but when used in combination with the camera or using the touch pad, is very very easily accessible even to the person that is playing games for the first time,” he said.
The executive also reiterated the company's belief that PS4 offers high value due to its competitive price and software line-up.

European prospective PlayStation 4 owners can download the latest firmware before the console goes on sale on Friday.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe English community manager Chris Owen said on Twitter the firmware 1.51, which weighs in at 300MB, will be available from the PlayStation Europe website on Thursday, 28th November at lunchtime - 12 hours before the console goes on sale at midnight.
"Those wanting to pre-download firmware 1.51 in preparation for PS4 launch. It'll be live on [the PlayStation Europe website] on Thursday lunchtime," Owen said.
Owen said Sony recommends European customers use the firmware from their own region, so if you've already pulled the update down from the US site, ditch that and start again.
The 1.51 update improves system software stability and makes minor refinements to elements of the system user interface, such as clearly indicating when a user downloads a game and a game patch at the same time.

The PS4 won’t suffer the same fate as the PS3, Sony UK managing director Fergal Gara told Bloomberg, as transcribed by Gamespot.
“The economics of PS4 are far closer to the economics of PS2 than they are to PS3,” he said.
“So if you consider with PS3, it was a highly bespoke architecture; it was expensive to make. And we weren’t making money on many of those devices, even at a high price point.
“With PS4 we come at it at a very lean price point and our economics will be far, far favorable to the PS3. So that is a job to be commended really for the internal team and of course it’s done with the gamer in mind.”
Probabil se stie de ceva timp, dar eu tocmai am aflat... si sunt foarte dezamagit ca PS4 nu suporta 3D. Pt mine chiar era important asta.
Chiar imi doream sa am atat o consola pt gaming pe care sa fac trecerea de la PC, cat si un player bun pe care sa pot vedea cate un film un sau doua din cand in cand, unele dintre ele fiind 3D.
Stai linistit, probabil in viitoare update-uri de fw se va implementa suport 3D.
Se pare ca Siren nu va aparea prea curand pe PS4.In comunicat trebuia sa apara Rime.

Probabil ca e 540p atunci cand lasi active commenturile pe ecran pentru ca atunci imaginea apare intr-un cadru cu video-ul de la PS4 Camera in partea dreapta si commenturile in partea de jos. (asta banuiesc eu)
Ai dreptate, este 540p. Scuze pentru confuzie. Eu asa stiam pana acum, ca ar fi 720p, nu verificasem personal. Exporturile video catre Facebook sunt 720p. Sper sa imbunatateasca streamingul pe viitor, sa mareasca rezolutia si bitrateul.
In sfarsit a sosit si consola mea !!!!!
