In an E3 promo email sent out today, Altus let slip that Trine 2 is currently in development. The above image confirms that FrozenByte will once again be developing the title. Altus says the game will be playable at their E3 booth, but we do not yet know which platforms Trine 2 will be released on�or any details for that matter.

Trine 2 looks to have the same hook as its predecessor, but with some enhanced features. Along with some graphical updates (the game looks downright beautiful) and online coop, the characters are getting some new powers. The wizard can now pick up and manipulate enemies as if he was a Force-wielding Jedi, while the thief will have the ability to slow down time. Not much more is known about abilities outside of this, but I'm also told that the levels are being designed to require the specialties of all the classes, increasing the importance of their powers.

Atlus has sent word that the very promising-looking Trine 2 from developer Frozenbyte will not make its once scheduled target release date of Spring 2011, but instead will be hitting your platform of choice in �late Summer 2011″. Bummer.

Frozenbyte has finally announced a release date for Trine 2. The puzzle platformer was originally announced for Spring 2011, before a subsequent delay to summer. The game was then pushed to Q4 2011, and now we have a concrete release date.

Trine 2 will launch first on Steam on December 7th. A release will follow on PSN in North America on December 20th, and on Xbox Live Arcade worldwide the following day. A European release date on PSN hasn't been announced, though Frozenbyte expects it to come "around the same time."

The game will be available for $14.99 on Steam and PSN. While a specific price wasn't announced for Xbox Live Arcade, it will presumably cost 1200 Microsoft Points, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Nici bine nu s-a lansat Trine 2, asta daca s-a lansat, habar n-am, ca se si vorbeste de un DLC cat juma din jocul initial !!! Pai cum vine asta?!
Si ca pe PC va fi ceva noi "moduri de joc" (nu stiu ce inseamna asta) care daca are succes pe PC vin si pe console.
Baaa, ma lasi ! Jocul asta se lanseaza pe bune sau ne iau la misto. Ce-s cu atatea lumatati de masura ?!

Superb jocul, acum l-am terminat. E mult mai frumos ca si primul, iti incanta ochii cu paleta de culori si grafica, puzzle-uri bune, platforming ok, este destul de lung doar ca sfarsitul mi sa paraut usor pe langa cel al primei parti.

Trine 2 expansion goes AAAA

All jokes aside to the AAAA quality certification in the title, but we haven’t published an official name for the expansion.

It is going to be top notch though.

We prefer to steer away from the “DLC” concept.
So many negative associations with that these days.

And rightfully, we think that the pack we are making, deserves to be called a true expansion rather than just added content.

Boasting a new story with 6 unique levels, added enemies and skills.

A new hardcore mode, some bonus menu options and did I mention that the new skills can also be used in the original campaign?

So yea, lots of stuff.
