News: Mafia 2 is '15 hours' long - ComputerAndVideoGames.com

Mafia II's "critical path" will take 15 hours to finish, 2K's Alex Cox has told Xbox World 360 magazine.

Cox said in XBW's latest issue: "I'd say the critical path is about 15 hours, maybe a bit longer. It's a nice length, big enough to feel epic without overstaying its welcome."

In its previous look at the open-world gangster sim, the mag said that Mafia II's "dynamite shootouts" make fellow Take-Two crime spree, GTA IV look "dated".

"We were blown away by both the visual fidelity and intricacy of the level design," the mag said. "As Vito, Steve, Joey and troops poured forward to bout the Brylcreemed baddies, GTA IV seemed very dated indeed."

MediaKick | Mafia II Collector’s Edition Announced

2K Games has announced a Collector’s Edition for Mafia II.

It will contain a Collectible SteelBook casing, Made Man pack – giving players access to in-game dlc, a Hardcover Art Book, a Mafia II Orchestral Sountrack and a Map of Empire Bay. No price was listed for the Collector’s Edition.

“The first Mafia title was a critical success, and we are excited to deliver an epic sequel to fans of the game and of Mafia entertainment,” said Christoph Hartmann, president, 2K. “By offering downloadable content and special editions of Mafia II, we are able to show our appreciation for those guys wise enough to reserve their copies early.”

In addition to the Collector’s Edition, 2K Games has announced that certain UK retailers will provide free downloadable content to customers who pre-order Mafia II.

Mafia II is set for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on 27th August.

Cum d-zeu sa puna physX in console cand:
1.Este tehnologie NVIDIA, bazata pe arhitectura placilor din seria 8.
2.Placa video din PS3 are arhitectura placilor video din seria 7 NVIDIA, iar Xbox-ul are chipset grafic ATi.
2.PhysX are nevoie de cel putin 48 pixelshaders ca sa functioneze. Da, PS3-ul are 32 parca, xbox-ul 48 dar asta inseamna ca nu mai ramane nimic pentru restul procesarii grafice. Eu zic ca o sa fie diferente considerabile intre console si PC.

Pentru posesorii PC cu procesor core iMamaMa-sii, pentaSLI 480GTX, enshpe mii de rami DDR5 si mai stiu eu ce alte componente astronomice se vor bucura de toata splendoarea jocului. Sa nu uitam ca e motorul grafic din GTA IV. Eu cu quad core q9000 si NVIDIA GeForce GT240M nu ma pot juca cu peste 23-24 fps nici medium detalii GTA.
Pe scurt, sunt sceptic si presimt ca framerate-ul la console va fi acelasi ca la GTA (catre unplayable)
