Metallica's eighth studio album,
St. Anger, left more than a few fans sour on the thrash-metal legends, partially because of its divergence from the guitar-heavy riffs that gained the band its reputation. It is with certain trepidation, then, that many now approach
Death Magnetic, an album that has been heralded by the likes of Rolling Stone as \"Metallica becoming Metallica again.\"
As announced during this year's E3 Media & Bussines Summit, Guitar Hero fans will be among the first to judge whether
Death Magnetic is a return to form for the mighty Met. Today, Activision Blizzard confirmed that the full album will be available for Guitar Hero III alongside its retail release this Friday, September 12, for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of the game.
Songs to be included on the
Death Magnetic playable album include \"That Was Just Your Life,\" \"The End of the Line,\" \"Broken, Beat & Scared,\" \"The Day That Never Comes,\" \"All Nightmare Long,\" \"Cyanide,\" \"The Unforgiven III,\" \"The Judas Kiss,\" and \"My Apocalypse.\" Metallica has also laid down two exclusive renditions of \"Suicide & Redemption,\" which feature extended guitar solos by James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett. The song pack will be available for $18 (1,440 Microsoft points).
Activision Blizzard also reconfirmed that
Death Magnetic will be available for Guitar Hero World Tour, noting that this week's download will be fully compatible for use in the new game. Of note, Activision Blizzard also officially confirmed World Tour for an October release window, lending more credence to retailers' long-standing listings for an October 26 release of the game.
