SEGA a prezentat Sonic Boom, o noua ramura a universului Sonic. Cu o noua prezentare a personajelor din serie, Sonic Boom va include un joc video, figurine si un serial TV si este special conceputa pentru preferintele publicului din vest. De aceea, nici jocul si nici serialul TV nu vor fi disponibile in Japonia. Jocul va fi disponibil pe platformele Wii U si 3DS si reprezinta a treia (si ultima) exclusivitate a parteneriatului Nintendo-Sega, anuntat anul trecut. Big Red Button Entertainment se va ocupa de varianta pentru Wii U, in timp ce varianta de 3DS va fi a celor de la Sanzaru Games. Ambele echipe se vor consulta cu Sonic Team din Japonia, dar acestia din urma nu vor fi direct implicati.
Serialul TV, produs de Sega of America si OuiDO! Productions va fi difuzat pe Cartoon Network si va contine 52 de episoade, de cate 11 minute fiecare.
As part of completely thinking about the West, we wanted to make sure we had Western game developers and make it a part of Western television. We wanted to make sure it was developed best for Western audiences primarily; this was very important.
Sonic Boom will take advantage of the innovative hardware of both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, with traditional elements of Sonic games, such as speed, also featured. The videogame will also introduce exploration, combat and a new Enerbeam tether mechanic that will allow the Sonic Boom world to be discovered in totally unique ways.
The series is an ensemble comedy consisting of 52 x 11-minute standalone episodes packed full of high-adrenaline action. Every episode starts from a small character-driven story and explodes into an epic tale of saving the world, robot battles and more.
