BioWare co-founders Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk have confirmed that a Mass Effect online title might be possible, but the studio admits that it still needs to complete the variety of projects it currently has underway.

Electronic Arts' new BioWare Label of studios has quite a lot of games in development, including the likes of Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO, Mass Effect 3 or Warhammer: Wrath of Heroes.

A Mass Effect MMO, which should take advantage of the studio's new experience after the release of the Star Wars title, and develop the universe from the existing franchise, is also rumored all over the web.

When asked by Industry Gamers, BioWare co-founders, Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, admitted that it's a possibility, but only time will tell if it's going to become a reality.

"I think once The Old Republic is done, we'll take a fresh look at the market," Zeschuk said. "And we'll have learned a lot. While making it, you learn an enormous amount. It's one of the nice things about having these properties in our back pocket... If we want to use something we own as a source for a game, it's easy to do. So yeah, you never know. We've got this giant product to launch, but once that's done we'll consider next steps."

Muzyka added, "We're focused very much on The Old Republic, Mass Effect 3 and [our free-to-play game] Wrath of Heroes, and all the other things we've announced, and haven't announced, but we also have the opportunity to look at our franchises in a way we haven't ever before. There are lots of new platforms and lots of new business models."

Mass Effect 3 will complete the trilogy of titles focusing on Commander Shepard, but, from then on, it's anybody's guess where the sci-fi franchise will go.

The new title is out on March 6, 2012, for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
