Steam Machine Price Was Originally Meant to Be About $750:

When I got a chance to sit down with Valve Engineers Pierre-Loup Griffais and Yazan Aldehayyat last week to talk about the Steam Machine, I asked them what the Steam Machine would have cost before the current memory market. And while neither of them would give me a hard number, I was told that it was "probably similar" to the price increase that the Steam Machine experienced last month.

Some quick napkin math pins that Steam Deck price increase at around 35-36% above the handheld's original $549 asking price, resulting in the new price of $789. If you do the same math for a hypothetical $749 pre-RAMflation Steam Machine, that would make the final $1049 price about 33% more expensive.

Stim cu totii ca oamenii care isi iau PC de gaming pentru a se juca ieftin nu compara preturile de pe PS Store cu preturile de pe Steam, ci preturile de pe PS Store cu preturile de pe FL.

Lumea se plangea despre el cand costa $700/€800 la lansare, ce vremuri ; eu ma tem ca il mai scumpesc o data pana ce se lanseaza GTA 6, chiar nu le face nimeni concurenta cu preturile astea.

De Half Life 3 ce se mai aude? Mai are cineva sperante ca Valve investeste bani in jocuri? Cred ca bugetul jocului de mult a fost alocat pentru un nou iaht in flota lui Gabe .

Valve will finally let you build your own Steam Machine with SteamOS for desktop:

If you don’t get lucky with Valve’s Steam Machine reservation system, you can make your own Steam Machine instead.

Valve says that “starting with the SteamOS 3.8 release, you can put together your own Steam Machine using whatever PC parts you want.”

SteamOS 3.8.10 launched last week with a slew of updates, including “improved compatibility with recent Intel and AMD platforms.”

Alongside that improved compatibility, Valve is giving gamers the green light to install SteamOS on their own desktops.

In an interview with The Verge, Valve’s Pierre-Loup Griffais said Valve has been “rolling out improvements to [SteamOS] so it’s more compatible with desktop hardware,” including eventual support for Nvidia graphics.

Griffais says Valve has “a growing team” working on Nvidia driver support for SteamOS, adding, “We’re collaborating with Nvidia very closely.” While he mentioned that Nvidia support might not come this year, Griffais emphasized that “it’s certainly something that we’re working on in the background.”
