Despite rumours that Adrift would be a PS3 exclusive and revealed at Gamescom this year, Dontnod has finally revealed details of its upcoming console game.
Adrift - currently a working title - is set in a dystopian future where thoughts and memories can be digitally distributed. The game, we're told, is intended to be a 'simple extension of the development of social networking and geolocation at the beginning of the 21st century.'
Speaking with Herve Bonin at Dontnod, the production director told us "Adrift is 50 per cent complete. You will be hearing more from us in the near guture. Right now we're focusing on revealing the art and vision."
Continuing, Bonin said "With games like BioShock, there was a vision but it was the gameplay that received criticisms. We want to hit this focus now, then discuss gameplay when we're confident."
Describing the gameplay, however, Bonin told us "It will be a linear, driven experience, with lots of combat, light exploration and puzzle elements. We're now wrapping our vision around it."
Little else is known about Adrift at the moment, but at least we now know that the game will be coming to both PS3 and Xbox 360 and is due for an Autumn 2012 release. Dontnod has yet to confirm a publisher.
