According to video game news organization Edge, many retailers are citing much higher-than-average return rates on PS3 games and consoles. Increases of over 200% are common, with gamers either choosing to swap their PlayStation 3s for an Xbox 360s or cold, hard cash.

Stores are noting that the online shooter crowd, accustomed to playing online games like Call of Duty: Black Ops on a daily basis, are the ones making the switch to Microsoft's competing system. These reports have been supported by recently released sales data that shows the Xbox 360 version of the latest Call of Duty title sharply increased after Sony's network bit the dust.

PS3 System Software Update

• We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The update (v3.61) is mandatory and will be available soon.
• If using a PS3, your password can only be changed on your own PS3 (or a PS3 on which your PSN account was activated), as an added layer of security. If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN. This e-mail will contain a link that will enable you to change your password. In this email, click on the link and follow the instructions to change your password. Once you have changed your password you can sign-in to your account using your new password.
• We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when PlayStation Network is back online. The release of this update is a critical step as we work to make PlayStation Network significantly more secure. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Sony has sent word that a new, mandatory PlayStation 3 firmware update (version 3.61) is now live. It is strongly recommended (by us, too!) that you change your password once prompted following the download and installation of the firmware.

According to Sony's Eric Lempel, the update is meant to prepare for the re-activation of PSN. This does not mean that PSN is fully operational -- not yet.

Cu toate acestea, redeschidem threadul pentru discutii referitoare la update, probleme, etc... And please don't feed the trolls! Good luck with the update!

Da ideea e ca am incercat si pe contul de US si pe cel de UK, si nimic, ai dreptate totusi cateva ore in plus nu conteaza..(la cat am asteptat pana acum)
