Contra is back! Kind of. Well, actually not at all. But Konami is releasing Contras spiritual sequel for XBLA and PSN this winter, titled Hard Corps: Uprising. Its every classic Contra aspect, modernized into anime sidescrolling glory and featuring the villain from Contra: Hard Corps, Colonel Bahamut, as the main playable character. Hard Corps: Uprising will feature co-op mode, both on and offline, and classic Contra power-ups, spread beam guns, alien attackers and a giant wall for the boss level. As per hardcore Contra tradition, one bullet kills you in Arcade Mode, but in the new Rising Mode, you can take three hits. How generous of them.
Hard Corps: Uprising is in development by Arc System Works, the makers of BlazBlue and Guilty Gear, so we can thank them for the art style makeover. Konami should provide more information about Hard Corps at E3, and well keep you updated as that comes.
