Official PlayStation Magazine has outed Quantic Dream�s Beyond, which is set for a showing during Sony's E3 press conference this evening.


According to a tweet from the magazine's editor: I saw Beyond back in February. It looks incredible. A massive step up from Heavy Rain. Two HUGE A-listers in the lead roles. Will steal E3.

As with Heavy Rain, it will be narrative based and use motion-captured actors to give a sense of real-world immersion. What we also know is that the game will be a Sony exclusive.

We did a little digging, and sure enough - beyondps3.com is owned by Quantic Dream.

Beyond will tell the story of a life over 15 years, with a heavy focus on the afterlife. "Death is the biggest mystery of mankind. What happens next, no one knows," Cage stated.

"Beyond will be unlike anything you have ever experienced before," according to Cage. "If you make the right decisions, maybe you will discover what lies beyond."

Cage also confirmed that the game's protagonist, Jodie Holmes, will be played by Ellen Page.

E3 2012: Quantic Dream

As rumored this morning, Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream revealed its new title during Sony�s E3 press conference today.

The game is called Beyond: Two Souls and revolves around what happens after we die. The main character is named Jodie Holmes and is played by Ellen Page. Jodie has a ghostly presence around her, something "in between."

The game will tell Jodie's story over 15 years. A brief scene shown during the conference had Jodie talking to Lt. J. Sherman, a police officer. Jodie has a recent scar on the back of her head.

A brief teaser showed Jodie fleeing from the police amidst explosions. She appears to travel with a ghost named Ivan.

UPDATE: Beyond: Two Souls will offer PlayStation Move compatibility, similar to Quantic Dream's predecessor Heavy Rain.

Beyond will be a single-player offline experience, a new press release has confirmed. The game is aiming for a PEGI 16 rating. It's genre is listed as "interactive drama" and will launch in "Q4" of the financial year (January to March 2013).

In interview-ul de azi, Tretton a catalogat creatorii lui Beyond (Quantic Dream) ca un studio first-party, deci poate ca o sa devina in viitorul apropiat. Si Beyond e sigur exclusiv.

Beyond took 10 months and 160 actors to film, and that's after Cage spent one year writing the script. During that year, he referenced a photograph of Page with a shaved head from Mouth to Mouth, a movie she did when she was 16, for the main character, Jodie Holmes. He ended up using Page in later movies as models for Jodie as she aged through the game. By the time he finished writing he said he couldn't picture another actress in Page's place.
Page seemed satisfied with Cage's decision as well: "What David has written is so powerful and so beautiful," she said. Beyond: Two Souls is due out in 2013 for PS3.
