Sharp da drumul LCD-urilor de inalta rezolutie IGZO!

Dupa ce joint venture-ul cu Sony (ce trebuia sa se intample acum o saptamana) a esuat, dupa ce s-a batut palma cu cei de la Apple (Sharp fiind unul din cei trei producatori pentru ecranul noului iPad), iata ca in sfarsit avem un press release oficial prin care suntem anuntati ca a inceput productia la primele panouri bazate pe tehnologia IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide). Aceste panouri promit sa ofere detaliu si rezolutie de doua ori mai mare decat cele clasice, avand marele avantaj ca vor consuma cu 90% mai putin curent.

Din start cei de la Sharp vorbesc despre panouri pentru tablete de 7" (la o rezolutie de 1280 x 800 - aproximativ 217 PPI) si panouri pentru monitoare/tv-uri de 32" (la o rezolutie de 3840 x 2160 - 140 PPI). Nu sunt date exact modele, dar conform zvonurilor, ne asteptam sa vedem in curand linie de panouri IGZO integrata in noile MacBook-uri Pro de la Apple si poate... cine stie, in sfarsit vom vedea si noul TV de la Apple. Sharp Begins Production of World's First LCD Panels Incorporating IGZO Oxide Semiconductors

In March 2012 at Kameyama Plant No. 2, Sharp began producing the world's first high-performance LCD panels incorporating IGZO oxide semiconductors. Sharp is expanding production scale through April to meet market demand.

Kameyama Plant No. 2 first started operations in August 2006, manufacturing highly advanced LCD panels for TVs. Production systems have subsequently been reorganized to focus on producing small- and medium-sized LCD panels for the world's rapidly growing smartphone and tablet terminal markets.

Employing advanced IGZO oxide semiconductors enables Sharp to produce LCDs with smaller thin-film transistors and increased pixel transparency, thus allowing for lower energy consumption. In addition, proprietary UV2A*3 photo-alignment technology employed in Sharp's AQUOS LCD TVs enables these displays to achieve high image quality.

Sharp will encourage the application of its new high-resolution LCD panels to high-definition notebook PCs and LCD monitors-which are both expected to grow in demand-as well as to mobile devices. Sharp will also contribute to creating markets for attractive new products.

Acum, asa se lauda si ei... asteptam sa vedem niste teste reale ca sa putem confirma. Sincer, era suficient si o eficienta identica cu LED-urile actuale, dar cu rezolutie mai mare. Dar, daca e 90%, atunci asa sa fie! Nu ne suparam. Mi-e cam frica insa de preturi... dar poate-i convinge Apple sa fabrice in cantitati industriale... sa iesim si noi la preturi normale la cap
