Ghost of Tsushima fans help crowdfund repairs to typhoon-hit island

A crowdfunding campaign for repairs to the real-life island of Tsushima has concluded with more than 27m yen (£192k) raised - 500 per cent of its original goal - thanks in part to donations from fans of Ghost of Tsushima.

The project will ensure the reconstruction of the Torii gate at Tsushima's Watatsumi Shrine, which was destroyed by a typhoon in September last year. The structure currently lies in pieces, half-submerged in water (thanks, Siliconera).

PS5/Series X: New Study Examines Environmental Impact Of Latest Consoles

The Natural Resources Defense Council, a US-based non-profit dedicated to climate advocacy, published a study looking at the environmental impact of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The organization found that both consoles use between 160 and 200-plus watts of energy--more than previous generations. They also need roughly the same energy as the TV they're likely plugged into, which uses between 120 and 200 watts depending on size.

Of course, the energy used dips pretty low when either console is low-power mode or on standby. In fact, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S use less than 1 watt in these states, according to the NRDC. However, that changes with Xbox's "Instant On" setting enabled by default and PlayStation's inability to smartly adapt to console inactivity. As a result, the wattage used by both consoles can jump to double-digits if gamers forget to turn them off.

As you can see, even if Nintendo was an issue, they'd have to censor the game heavily for it to adapt to their view and see a potential release. All these changes is exactly what GoldenEye 2010 and Reloaded is.

Elon Musk Put A Chip Inside A Monkey's Skull To Play Video Games With Its Mind

The billionaire is trying to get two monkeys to play a game of "mind Pong" to test his new brain-machine-interface technology.

Elon Musk has created a system that has the potential for a monkey to play video games with its mind.

The Tesla founder revealed this in a recent discussion on Clubhouse, where he announced that his team at Neuralink put a chip inside the monkey's head and connected it to its brain using "tiny wires," Musk said, as reported by CNBC.

"It's not an unhappy monkey," Musk said. "You can't even see where the neural implant was put in, except that he's got a slight like dark mohawk."

The idea here is to ascertain if it's possible for monkeys to play a game of "mind Pong" together. "That would be pretty cool," the billionaire said.

Theaters Around The World Are Renting Their Screens To Gamers

With movie theater chains globally losing huge amounts of revenue due to the pandemic, many are looking for new ways to make a profit.

In November, a Memphis-based movie theater chain called Malco Theaters started renting out its screens. Now, theaters in South Korea are starting to do the same.

Since November, Malco has been allowing up to 20 people to rent a screen at $100 for two hours or $150 for 3 hours. The company has 36 theaters across Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Kentucky, and the practice has been gaining traction, but not enough. According to Malco VP Karen Melton: "It is gaining traction, and is becoming popular, but nothing is adding to our profitability at this point."

Un tânăr din Vaslui a fost condamnat la închisoare cu suspendare, după ce a câștigat peste 160.000 de euro din gaming

Tânărul de 25 de ani pasionat de jocuri online a reuşit să căştige peste 160.000 de euro din gaming. Sumele importante intrate în conturile sale au atras atenția autorităților, care au declanșat o anchetă.

În urma verificărilor realizate la Administrația Județeană a Finanțelor Publice Vaslui tânărul 25 de ani, din Bârlad, a ajuns să datoreze statului român peste 20.000 de euro, care ar fi însemnat taxe și impozite pentru banii câștigați din gaming.

Mai exact, s-a constatat că în perioada anilor 2015- 2019, el a câștigat din gaming peste 160.000 de euro (648.853 de lei, 29.528 de euro și 1.830 de lire sterline).

Pus sub acuzare și trimis în judecată pentru evaziune fiscală, el a achitat integral prejudiciul adus statului şi a făcut demersurile pentru a intra în legalitate.

Pentru cei patru ani în care nu a declarat veniturile, tânărul a fost condamnat la un an de închisoare cu suspendare, fiind obligat să respecte un program de supraveghere timp de un an.
