“You disappoint me”, reads the subject line. “It was amusing watching you fail” and “surely you can do better than this,” the message says.

Sinclair was heavily critical of Ubisoft’s email marketing, tweeting on Tuesday: “A lot of games are already ruthlessly designed to maximize engagement, but now they email and hassle you if you dare to stop playing them.”

His tweet has been liked over 22,000 times, suggesting many others also found the tone of the messaging to be ill-judged.

“Normalize letting people stop playing a game if they’re not enjoying it,” Sinclair followed up.

Far Cry 6 was released earlier this month for consoles and PC and has scores of 75 (PS5), 76 (PC) and 80 (Xbox Series X/S) on review aggregator Metacritic.

Some of the game’s harsher reviews, including VGC’s 2/5-star verdict, criticise the title for sticking too closely to a tried and tested formula.

Our critic Jordan Middler wrote: “If you’re interested in another Far Cry game that does the Far Cry stuff the way it’s been doing it for 10 years, you’ll probably have a good time, but if you’ve already hit your limit with this kind of game, Far Cry 6 is the ne plus ultra of why open-world game design is so badly in need of a revolution.”

Ubisoft is emailing Far Cry 6 owners with a roundup of their playtime so far - prompting a mixed response from some fans.

The email, written in the style of the game's villain El Presidente, is essentially a message meant to goad player character Dani Rojas back into action.

"Hola, Rojas. I wanted to thank you for giving me free rein in Yara," the email teases. "Take it easy, and know that Yara is in capable hands." The email goes on to question: "Surely you can do better than this," before listing a set of custom player stats such as time played and total kills.

The email gathered visibility yesterday afternoon after being posted to Twitter by GamesIndustry.biz managing editor Brendan Sinclair. The message's tone, coupled with a play count of just three hours, gave the appearance that Ubisoft was singling out someone for abandoning the game quickly.

But as more people posted their own emails, it became clear that playtime was not the sole cause. Players with dozens and dozens of hours under their belt were still getting messages. Some found it amusing - others less so.

I've not played Far Cry 6 myself, but have had similar emails featuring play stats in the past for various other Ubisoft games, including Assassin's Creed. Were these sparked by me putting the game down for a couple weeks? It's hard to tell.

But the blanket mailout here, seemingly regardless of playtime, makes this seem less targeted than it initially appeared - even if it is tied to players not having logged in for a week or so.

"The emails sent to Far Cry 6 players are intended to be a fun and clever way to remind folks to come back to Yara and are written as if from El Presidente himself," a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer this afternoon. "We've heard from the community and we've shared their concern with El Presidente. And know that Chorizo does miss you dearly."

"It's not quite the revolution, but a solid entry all the same," our Ian wrote in Eurogamer's Far Cry 6 review. "There's plenty that's familiar about the latest entry in Ubisoft's open world shooter, but that doesn't stop it being a blast."

Hay joined Ubisoft to produce Far Cry 3 – which remains the series’ highest-rated game to date – and kept his role for virtually every instalment since, including Blood Dragon, Far Cry 4, Primal, Far Cry 5 and New Dawn.

The company veteran was most hands-on with Far Cry 5, on which he acted as creative director.

“After more than 10 years at Ubisoft, Dan Hay has announced that he will be pursuing a new chapter in his professional life and he will be leaving on November 12,” Ubisoft told VGC.

“Dan has been the Executive Director of Far Cry and has developed an incredible multi-disciplined team to produce what has become one of the most popular games in Ubisoft’s history.

“While Dan has not announced where his path is taking him, we are confident that it will offer him the new challenges and experiences he seeks and deserves. We thank Dan for his many contributions over the years and wish him all the best for the future.

“In the interim, the brand team will be led by Sandra Warren in Montreal as well as a highly capable team of producers and directors, in addition to continuing its collaborations with a number of other studios around the world.”

E posibil ca Far Cry 6 sa fie ultimul joc "normal" din serie, urmatoarele vor deveni live-services ...
The next entry in the Far Cry series is reportedly in development as a live-service game comparable to the upcoming Assassin's Creed Infinity. This comes as Ubisoft confirms to GamesRadar that Far Cry executive director, Dan Hay, is leaving the company.

According to GamesBeat, Hay had already been working on the Far Cry live-service game for an unspecified period of time before Ubisoft announced his departure from the company. In his place, Ubisoft's Sandra Warren has been named interim head of the Far Cry brand. In a statement to GamesRadar, Ubisoft says Hay's last day with the company is Friday, November 12, and that Hay hasn't revealed what his next move is after Far Cry.

"Dan has been the executive director of Far Cry and has developed an incredible multi-disciplined team to produce what has become one of the most popular games in Ubisoft's history," reads the statement. "While Dan has not announced where his path is taking him, we are confident that it will offer him the new challenges and experiences he seeks and deserves. We thank Dan for his many contributions over the years and wish him all the best for the future."

It's unclear if the live-service Far Cry game is intended as the next mainline installment in the game or more of a spinoff. Since it's being compared to Assassin's Creed Infinity, which Ubisoft recently confirmed isn't a free-to-play game, there's a good chance the untitled Far Cry game will be a paid experience too.

Nici grafica nu mi s-a parut buna pe PS4 vanilla, zici ca-i ceva joc scos in graba foarte mare.
