New hot fixes for Borderlands 2 are now rolling out on PC / Mac, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3!

Borderlands 2 Hot Fixes - February 19, 2013:

Mr. Torgue DLC: Fixed an issue where the Lootsplosion would not always trigger after defeating Piston.
Addressed instances of audio distortion tied to Axton's turret and kill skills.
Chere-amie sniper rifle and transfusion grenades no longer cause audio distortion.
Amp shots now use same sound effect regardless of whether player is client or host.
Assigned price to Anshin 'Evolution' shield so that players can sell it for money if desired.

Borderlands 2 Luck of the Zafords Weekend

Celebrate the Luck of the Zafords in Borderlands 2 this weekend with special in-game events and gear!

Each year, around this time, the Zaford clan takes a break from their war with the Hodunk bandit family to celebrate their good fortune and honor those that have passed on, such as that time Scooter buried their son alive in a shallow grave.

During this time, those who play Borderlands 2 while connected to the internet will see a temporary increase in the drop rates and rarity of shields! Plus, Absorb shields will have a better chance to absorb enemy bullets and Booster shields will have a higher chance of dropping a shield Booster when damaged.

In addition, the Zafords have prepared special gifts! Borderlands 2's Level Cap Will Go Up To 61 On April 2

At Gearbox's PAX East panel today, the developers of Borderlands 2 announced that players maxed out at level 50 will finally be able to get to leveling their characters again. As of April 2nd (next week!) you can download what is basically DLC for 11 extra levels (that's up to 61).

But it'll cost you $5 for the add-on, unless you've got that nifty season pass.

The add-on will also come with the return of the Pearlescent weapon type, which was a set of high-level weapon drops and an extremely rare find in Borderlands 1. We haven't seen this weapon type in the sequel yet, but if you download the add-on next week, you might see it pop up here and there if you're lucky to find one of those crafty little guns.

Borderlands 2 Is Getting A Second New Game Plus Mode Next Week

If you've played Borderlands 2 to completion and then played it through to completion a second time on True Vault Hunter Mode, and you're still looking for more, you'll be happy to hear that the game is getting something of a new game plus plus mode.

It's called Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, and you'll have to be at level 50 to run through on what will essentially be a third playthrough. This official third playthrough means, of course, that the difficulty will be scaled much higher. Gearbox announced the news today at their PAX East panel.

The update comes out next week on April 2. Best news, though? It's a completely free update.

The Newest Playable Class In Borderlands 2 Is A Psycho Bandit Named Krieg [Update: Now With Teaser Trailer]

The next character class in Borderlands 2 is a big, bad, psycho (you know, one of those bandits you shoot and kill all the time) named Krieg. An ex-psycho bandit that you can actually play as.

Gearbox has been teasing the next playable character class for Borderlands 2—a hulking, silhouetted baddie—since SXSW. But we finally got a few new details about the guy today at Gearbox's PAX East panel.

Krieg's main action skill is melee-based as we suspected, and it incorporates his Buzz Axe. When you attack with the action skill activated, Krieg swings his buzz axe at an enemy to get his full health returned to him. Of course, you can tweak the skill trees to your liking, but that's basically how it will work.

The DLC character will be available sometime this May for $10.

Addressed an issue that could cause sound effects to loop during the "Train to Catch" mission.
Fixed a bug that prevented Pimon from spawning in Wildlife Exploitation Reserve if players had completed the "Swallowed Whole" side mission.
Resolved a rare issue where players would sometimes be unable to pick up loot dropped by Terramorphous the Invincible.
Fixed audio issues for clients using the 'Hide of Terramorphous' shield.
Prevented exclamation mark from appearing above certain enemies when they are not quest givers.
Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt DLC: Fixed an issue where Rakkanoth would not always spawn if players were too far away.
Fixed an issue that could cause Handsome Jack's name to temporarily be in another language for the final boss fight when playing with a user in a different language.

Borderlands 2 Level Increase and Other Changes

Exciting changes are coming to Borderlands 2 on April 2, 2013!

As you may have heard, the team has been hard at work to raise the level cap -- an effort that required re-balancing, re-tuning and re-testing the entire game -- along with adding a third playthrough, more ammo upgrades, additional backpack slots and more!

Here's what players on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 can expect that day:

Changes in 4/2 Software Update (Free)

Adds new items to the Black Market:
One additional ammo upgrade for each ammo type, at 50 Eridium each.
Two more backpack storage space upgrades, at 50 and 100 Eridium respectively.
Two more bank storage space upgrades, at 50 and 100 Eridium respectively.
Increases the maximum amount of Eridium players can hold from 99 to 500.
Adds a new playthrough balanced for top-tier play: Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.
Various bug fixes.

Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack
(Free with Season Pass, $4.99 / 400 Microsoft Points separately)

Raises level cap to 61, allowing characters to gain 11 additional levels.
Characters gain a skill point with every level from 51 to 61, for a total of 11 more skill points.
Powerful new "Ancient" E-Tech relics and rare Pearlscent-grade weapons can be picked up in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.

Borderlands 2 Tiny Tina DLC Price, Release Date Announced

Following a leak earlier today, Gearbox has confirmed that the fourth and final campaign add-on in Borderlands 2’s Season Pass is Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. The pack will be released on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 25th for free to Season Pass holders, or for $9.99 (800 Microsoft Points) to anyone else.

The add-on revolves around a game of Bunkers & Badasses -- Pandora’s version of Dungeons & Dragons -- led by Tiny Tina. As original Vault Hunters Brick, Roland and Lilith play through Bunkers & Badasses, you'll experience their game as part of Borderlands 2. Tina serves as dungeon master, narrating the action as it happens and even changing boss attributes, location details, character names and much more on the fly.
