God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry has a new contender

Apart from the marines from all the shooters, its zombies that have made big bucks in this generation. Every game these days has a zombie mode attached to it and people seem to love to drill through hordes of mindless flesh. Well back in the year 2000 where the zombie fever was still limited to a few videogames (read Resident evil) Ryuhei Kitamura brought the 'Versus' to the world. A prisoner who goes by the number 303 is locked in epic combat with mobsters and zombies.

Back in 2008 there were murmurings about a US adaptation of the movie where one of the 666 portals were placed. Cut to 2011, we seem to have discovered one of the portals that discuss not only the movie that was being pitched but also a videogame that would be based on on the lines of some of the famous hack & slash games that we have seen this generation.

The game being pitched by Alchemic productions ( a studio that has worked on Jericho and the latest iteration of Alone in the dark) had the following details. Titled 'versussellsheet', the features of the game include:

"Over-the-Top Action - Versus is framed as a series of wild set-piece fight scenes. Players will use a mix of superhuman martial-arts, swords, knives and high-powered military weapons to destroy waves of undead attackers, assassins and government agents.

✦ Cinematic Moves - don't just punch and kick... slam a grenade in a zombie's mouth, then kick it's head off to blow up another gang heading your way. Pummel your enemies with nunchucks made from two severed handsconnected by handcuffs.

✦ These aren't your typical Zombies - Don't let your guard down expecting the zombies in Versus to shamble atyou slowly. And these are more than just 28-Days-Later-Style "fast zombies", either. The infernal powers that raised them from the dead have also imbued them with amazing martial arts skills and supernatural powers.

✦ Fight Everywhere - The game's battles take place in wildly diverse and dynamic environments; in a burning casino under siege by zombie bikers, in and around a cargo plane as it plummets from the sky, and across the top of a caravan of speeding vehicles tearing along a nevada highway. Each battle-venue is unique and filled with hazardsand opportunities for special kills.

✦ A Little Bonus for the Manga Fan - Character designs and concept art by famed manga artist and "Afro Samurai" creator Takashi Okazaki."
