On topic cred ca cei care au scos acel zvon se refereau la puterea Cloudului de a sustine procesarea consolei si la eventualitatea DirectX 12 de a usura munca GPU / CPU-ului
La GDC 2014 m-am bucurat cand am vazut la DirectX 12 cum ne vorbeste Microsoft despre faptul ca vom putea vedea upto 2x speed improvements (pana la sfarsitul lui 2015), pe aceleasi GPU-uri (inclusiv pe Xbox One). Asta pana au venit cei de la nVidia, Intel si AMD cu OpenGL-ul ca sa arate upto 7x to 15x performance...
Eu sincer m-as multumi si cu acel 2x extra speed... in ideea ca poate in sfarsit vor rula toate jocurile in 1080p la 60FPS (ca sa se termine odata cu nebunia asta de versusuri)... insa am un feeling ca Microsoft o sa cam piarda "razboiul" cu Valve & Co. Acum inteleg de ce au batut ei atata moneda pentru SteamOS pe Linux, avand un OpenGL super rapid.
Anyway, pana la sfarsitul lui 2015 ar trebui sa avem un Xbox One cu 2x mai rapid in gaming. Good news, right?
MonkY unde ai vazut 7x - 15x performance ? In plus driverele AMD au lasat tot timpul impresia de ...beta, de ce Mantle ar fi diferit ? Iar nVidia de fiecare data prezinta ceva surprinzator...care nu si-l permit multi oameni (Titan ftw...). Dar ne abatem de la Xbox si nu vreau sa ajungem in off-topic.

Microsoft, we have discovered, has paid up to $150 million to buy IP assets related to augmented reality, head-borne computers, and related items from the Osterhout Design Group, a low-profile company that develops wearable computing devices and other gadgets, these days primarily for the military and other government organizations.
As you might remember, we first broke the news that Microsoft was looking at acquiring ODG, or part of its assets, in September 2013, at a price tag of up to $200 million, depending on what went into the deal.
Here’s what ended up happening: Microsoft was indeed in discussions with the company, and as we reported, the conversations were focused around whether Microsoft would try to buy the whole company outright or just intellectual property. Ultimately, it worked out to be the latter, for a price that TechCrunch understands is between $100 million and $150 million.
