on Mattrick: Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience.

For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. We imagined a new set of benefits such as easier roaming, family sharing, and new ways to try and buy games. We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future.

Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One.

You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world.

So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:

An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.

In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console -- there will be no regional restrictions.

These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity. While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds.

Astfel de informatii si tot felul de sicanari din partea Sony si Microsoft nu pot fi decat benefice pentru utilizatorul final. Ma bucur sincer ca Microsoft incepe sa o dea cotita. Tot ei vor sa le cumperi consola care face totul: deci teoretic eu trebuie sa imi vand ps3-ul ca One are blu-ray dar si xbox 360-ul caci joaca pe One nu are egal. Ca sa ma faca pe mine sa imi vand acele console trebuie sa invete sa impace si capra si varza. Compatibilitate jocuri xbox 360, posibilitate de a juca sh-uri, si mai usor cu obligativitatea unei conexiuni. Eu sper din suflet ca pana la acea lansare oficiala de Craciun sa isi mai schimbe din idei si sa mai scape de fite, vorba aia, clientul de Live plateste deja. Ce ma bucura nespus e ca apele se tulbura de la lansarea One, la PS4 si acum la E3. Eu sunt cel care iau popcorn-ul, ii las sa se lupte pana la sange si apoi aleg. Keep it up!

Surprise Xbox One DRM Reversal Requires Day One Patch, Cuts Features - Kotaku

"There’s a few things we won’t be able to deliver as a result of this change," Marc Whitten, v.p. of Xbox Live told Kotaku, "One of the things we were very exicted about was 'wherever we go my games are always with me.' Now, of course your physical games won’t show up that way. The games you bought digitally will. You’ll have to bring your discs with you to have your games with you. Similarly, the sharing library [is something] we won’t be able to deliver at launch."

That means that two features are being cut, at least for now, from the console. Microsoft's concept of having your full game library travel with you is gone. Their offer to let you share games with up to nine other "family" members is gone, too.

Those sacrifices are the cost of the new DRM policy that, Whitten says, will give people an Xbox One experience with disc-based games that matches what they had on the Xbox 360. Games won't have to be registered online and players won't have to connect to the Internet in a 24-hour period to play offline disc-based games. "The way to think about it is it works the way it does with 360," Whitten said. "You can give them, loan them, trade them, play them. They will work exactly as they do today."

It's clear that Microsoft was not planning to make these changes. Even though it's June and the console doesn't launch until November, Whitten said that Xbox One consumers will have to download a day-one patch to enable the Xbox One's offline mode. Presumably, without it, the console will still think it's living in the Xbox One era of E3 2013.

Microsoft also announced today a loosening of the Xbox One's region restrictions. "You could buy a console in any country and use it any country," Whitten said. "You can use any disc in that console."

Am mai spus eu odata ca lumea se agita prea mult si pana dupa lansare nimic nu e 100% sigur.

Singurul argument valid pentru haitereala mi se pare ala cu jocurile sh. La urma urmei nu sunt dobitoci. Asta e firma care a reusit sa se bata de la egal la egal si sa castige lupta cu sony in generatia trecuta... Probabil acum incearca sa vada care e feedback-ul. Cu siguranta ca in cele sase luni pana apare pe piata or mai avea timp sa-si adapteze strategia.

Cam penal sa ma citez, dar asta e... Mai ramana sa scoata si obligativitatea folosirii kinect2 si suntem iar prieteni.

Acum sa anunte self-publishing pentru indies, sa dea inca ceva in plus cu Live Gold si sa scape de cei responsabili pentru DRM sau cel putin de cei care au patat imaginea companiei (gen Don Mattrick) si si-au spalat pacatele.

Deci sa inteleg ca nu i-am injurat degeaba pe toate canalele pana acum, nu? In sfarsit, reusesc sa vad si eu rezultatul muncii unor comunitati revoltate. Chiar nu ma asteptam ca Microsoft sa dea inapoi... insa godamnit, e de bine! Love you guys!
