Thread: Doom (2016)

    Recording of any kind was prohibited at the event, but there was a lot of information to process during the 20-minute-long gameplay demo. Here are a bunch of the highlights:


    Fast-paced combat against multiple enemies at once - Doom 3 this ain't.

    Set outside a massive UAC research facility on Mars as it's being invaded by the forces of Hell.

    Hellknights, cyberdemons, revenants, mancubii, and other classic monsters were spotted throughout the demo.

    Classic Doom weapons, including the fan-favorite double-barrell shotgun return. Plasma rifle, rocket launcher, and the good old chainsaw were also shown off.

    Go fast. "Doom is not about about taking cover" said executive producer Marty Stratton.

    Doom is powered by IdTech 6, and will be for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. They are "committed" to 1080P at 60 frames-per-second.

    Wonderfully gory close range executions, including special ones for dropping down on enemies from above.

    Revenants now have jetpacks and can hover about while firing rockets at you.At least one weapon, the combat shotgun, has an alternate fire mode, which allows you to charge up and release multiple shells in rapid succession.

    Sprinting, double-jumping and mantling are all possible, making for very fluid motion during combat.

    Enemies can teleport in for old-school style ambushes.

    Dying results in a crazy fatality scene depending on what killed you a la Dead Space.

    Revenants rip your arms off and punch straight through your combat helment.

    Old school mechanics. No reloading your clip, hold as many weapons as you want, health and ammo pick-ups etc. NO REGENERATING HEALTH.

    Sunt trist. Cred ca Doom mergea pe o carare buna pana acum, nu trebuia sa revina la modul Serious Sam. Ahh well, time to let the hopes go and move on...

    N-are cum...e ceva in neregula...tre sa aiba doar 1 nivel sau 10 minute de joc, sau iron sights si aim spread, sau numai cutscenes 80% din joc si numai arme realiste,sau cover system, sau o singura arma o mitraliera la care pui atasamente de racheta, plasma, bfg, or smth... e imposibil, chiar nu mai apare o excretie de clona CoD (vezi wolfensteinu nou)?


    Nu pot sa cred asa ceva...cred ca o sa le bombardeze cineva sediul inainte sa iasa jocul...blasfemie ce mai.

    Clar,experienta din alte jocuri care au zis asta ne invata ca : 3 arme ca nu e nevoie de mai multe, gloante deloc ca sa te forteze designul sa folosesti melee, si un monstru moare mai repede de la un pumn decat de la un shotgun blast. Great

    Pre-gameplay reveal, sa facem un compendiu a ce inseamna sa fii un game designer retard.

    1. Daca zici ca ai 10 arme in joc, si apoi lista arata asa:
    * Arma 1: pumni
    * Arma 2: cutit
    * Arma 3: pistol
    * Arma 4: doua pistoale
    * Arma 5: mitraliera
    * Arma 6: doua mitraliere
    * Arma 7: shotgun
    * Arma 8: doua shotgunuri
    * Arma 9: grenada
    * Arma 10: wire clippers sau computer hacker rahat

    -> esti un designer retard.

    2. Daca zici campanie single player, si apoi jocul contine:
    * 5 ore de gameplay pana la final
    * 2 din cele 3 ore, cutsceneuri cinematic cu mini quick time events
    *(a) Boss: Un monstru putin mai mare sau
    *(b) Boss: Un mini puzzle de pornit generatoare si electricitate pt a darama un elicopter/tanc/structura de metal cu turete

    -> esti un designer retard


    3. Daca nu poti sa cari mai mult de 2 arme deodata, si in loc sa faci level design cu ammo bine gandit, pui arme random scattered ca sa se potriveasca cu scriptingul (gen, open area, conveniently e un sniper la usa inainte sa iesi , boss fight -> convenabil o bazuca si multe multe grenade), iar scuza ta este:
    * Nu am gasit o metoda corecta pentru selectia armelor pentru console
    * Este mai imersiv asa deoarece forteaza jucatorul sa ia decizii

    -> esti un designer retard.


    4. Daca faci 3 - 4 inamici in joc, si apoi:
    * Le faci reskin cu o casca de metal in plus
    * Le faci reskin cu culori diferite si cu alte arme in mana
    * Zici ca e varietate prin AI behavior si e mult mai bine asa, quality over quantity

    -> esti un designer retard.


    5. Daca implementezi iron sights la toate armele, considerand ca e mult mai fun ca sa joc 90% din joc uitandu-ma la un patrat cu o sticla in mijloc, si motivand asta ca este mai "realist"

    -> esti un designer retard


    6. Daca faci sunetele de la arme sa sune ca si cum ai arunca cu o rafie de bile de rulment in cineva, sau sa sufli printr-o sarbacana cu mazare, motivand faptul ca e mai aproape de realism si de propagarea sunetului, sau pur si simplu pt ca te-a durut in posterior:

    -> esti un designer retard


    7. Daca faci misiuni de:
    * "protect <orice> in <x> secunde pana se repara computeru/vine elicopteru"
    * escort AI convoy cu bara de viata in timp ce se spawneaza convenabil valuri de inamici
    * misiuni constante de vehicle driving in care tot ce faci e sa tii apasat pe o tureta zeci de minute in sir

    -> esti un designer retard


    Acum, sa vedem cum va fi acest Doom, si ce au priceput astia ca inseamna seria Doom.
    Dupa ce am vazut cum s-a masacrat ultimul wolfenstein si cum merge trendul de shootere (vezi mai sus cred ca au atins 90% din puncte) pot sa zic ca nici macar nu voi juca gratis acest joc daca il gasesc pe jos pe strada.

    Dar, speranta moare ultima.

    @SwingShot, ai deacris genul de game designeri care mint publicul(si pe ei insasi) ca vin cu lucruri noi si revolutionare, cand ei defapt nu si-ar parasi zona de confort nici daca le-ar lua foc casa.

    Mi-a placut foarte mult ce-am vazut si ce-am aflat despre DOOM mai putin SnapMap-ul (acel "tool" pe mine nu ma intereseaza).

    Pai de ce mai RonanN1? Free maps... free mods... Gasesti tot timpul ceva original (vezi LBP) facut de altii.

    Dar de executiile acelea melee, ce ziceti?

    ...niciodata n-am fost atras de alea. Nu-s creativ, n-am timp sa ma gandesc ce sa fac/cum sa fac, meh...iar daca gasesc ceva facut de alt user...ma apuc numa de criticat...

    Cat despre executii woooooo! (atat melee-ul cat si executia in sine)

    Din cate am vazut jocul "te ajuta" si "iti spune" cand poti face o executie si din cate am vazut ai o limita de timp de cateva secunde si imi place ca-s diferite (depinde de unde-l prinzi, ca sa zic asa). Cele cu drujbitza au fost excelente

    Looks awesome. Citeam mai demult ca o sa fie ceva total diferit, dar mie mi se pare un mare remake la Doom 3. I love it.
