Siri AI: Apple introduces Siri AI, a profoundly more capable and personal assistant - Apple.


Due to DMA, Siri AI delayed in EU for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27:

- The camera will launch faster in low power mode.
- You can now set up extra large widgets.

Apple is reportedly downgrading the NAND flash storage in the 1TB and 2TB variants of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro

According to the tipster Reptalica, the 256GB and 512GB variants of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max use TLC NAND that has been sourced from SK hynix, Kioxia, and SanDisk.

For the benefit of those who might not be aware, Triple-Level Cell (TLC) NAND stores three bits of data per cell, and typically entails faster and more consistent write speeds, while offering higher durability than its Quad-Level Cell (QLC) NAND counterpart, but comes with a higher cost.

As fi totusi curios de 2 chestii:

1. se va rascula cineva? va boicota cineva Apple pentru asta? sau nobody cares? ideea e ca in alte situatii, lumea pe net s-a isterizat, vai, cum sa nu ai storage high end, dar aici cred ca va trece neobservat de marea majoritate.

2. exista un procent mai mare de...1% (desi as tinde mai degraba spre 0.1%) din oameni care chiar au nevoie de astfel de viteze? Daca da...pentru ce? Diferentele ar fi insesizabile pentru un utilizator de rand (99% din cumparatori, as zice) - de tinut cont ca vitezele sunt oricum absurde si nu se va vedea niciun impact la useri in mod uzual - poate doar cei care filmeaza pro res sau profita de toate nebuniile alea, desi stiu mai multi oameni care-si cumpara constant ultimul model de aifon cu cea mai mare marime de storage, dar nu au alte aplicatii in afara de tiktok, instagram si ceva de la banca.

Pierzi ceva esential din vedere pe langa viteza de scriere mai scazuta la QLC pierzi enorm de mult la anduranta.

Pai asa e in teorie. In practica, iei produse premium ca sa le folosesti 1, 2, maxim 3 ani. Si atunci...ce pierzi de fapt?

Apple Watch-urile - care sunt ceasuri, teoretic, ceva "nemuritor" - sunt "prostite/ingreunate" intentionat de ei ca sa le scurteze durata de viata. Am tras 7 ani cu Series 3 (de la 3 la 10) si inca ma tinea bateria 1 zi (de seara pana seara), iar Series 10, care initial ma tinea 2 zile (de seara pana a treia seara), dupa primul an, mi-a scazut la 1.5 zile, ca acum sa ma tina 1 zi.

La telefoane e la fel...ele mai duc, dar ei nu vor sa le lase sa duca, pentru ca pierd vanzari

Ce rost are durata de viata de 10 ani la un produs pe care ei il fac obsolete la 3 ani? Ca asta e intrebarea...
