With the PS4’s upcoming release, many players are excited about its capabilities. However, the PS4, like anything else, has its limitations. While there are many things to nitpick, the PS4’s media support has received considerable negative attention. Unlike little brother PS3, the PS4 currently doesn’t allow for use of MP3s and CDs (at least as of launch day), which really rustles some jimmies.
While it’s a seemingly additional feature for a gaming machine, many Playstation users do actually use their devices for media purposes and were outraged upon its removal. After all, such an expensive machine should have all the bells and whistles. Alas, this is not how it is intended to be on launch day.
Excluding the Playstation’s MP3 and CD manageability is seemingly only beneficial to Sony because music media is still accessible via Music Unlimited. Indeed, reasoning behind the deliverance of this is debatable;
however, Sony has announced that they will accommodate the demand, and will offer both CD and MP3 support for the PS4 in the near future, to quell any newfound animosity towards the company.
Though there is no date on this change, not only will the upcoming modification attempt to reverse any perceived intent to limit players to Music Unlimited, but it will show that Sony is willing to listen and accommodate to customers’ criticism and demands.
