Who says the PSP is dead? Demand for the handheld has grown exponentially since a temporary price cut on the system, with sales reaching an
unprecedented high. As the Black Friday madness starts to kick in, Sony’s handheld has toppled the Wii, PS3 and 360 for the sales crown.
Amazon.com, the world’s largest online retailer, listed the PSP 3000 for
a mere $129.99, with a copy of
LittleBigPlanet,
The Karate Kid movie, and a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo and a $15 gift card
earlier today, causing the PSP to almost immediately
sell out as word spread of the fantastic deal.
With such an increase in demand, sales
sky-rocketed 62,200% causing the bundle to go from a sales ranking of 1,246 to a
lofty second place.
The great deal isn’t just an Amazon exclusive, Sony
announced on the PlayStation Blog that the $129.99 bundle would be available at all major retailers over the Black Friday period, meaning that the sales increase is likely to be mirrored all across the United States. Amazon are currently sold out of the PSP pack (we’ll be sure to update you if it comes back in stock), but Best Buy are still
offering the bundle online.
The PSP isn’t the only set to see a sales boost as Amazon has some unmissable
Black Friday deals for the PlayStation 3, with a
160GB Family Bundle with Singstar Dance and Ratchet and Clank costing
only $299.99, and a
160GB Black Friday Bundle featuring Uncharted 2 GOTY edition, Pixeljunk Shooter and The Karate Kid Blu-ray for
as little as $299.
