Updating to firmware 3.61 will cause PlayStations to overheat. There have been various reports of this on a few different games now, all reporting their PS3s turning off or �Red Lighting� after having installed 3.61. This can range from games randomly freezing to PS3s turning off anywhere between 30 mins use to 2 hours. At this time we are recommending contacting Sony directly to report the overheating issue.

The overheating issue affecting a few PS3's playing L.A Noire is also crashing "other consoles". As with the release of any System Update, we will invariably see a very small number of users whose console has failed following updating their console, which is an unfortunate coincidence.

Rockstar has issued new advice on what to do if L.A. Noire causes your console to freeze or crash L.A. Noire launched in the US yesterday and hits Europe tomorrow, but some users have reported issues while playing the game. The problems were first thought to affect the PS3, with latest firmware update 3.61 cited as a potential reason, but similar issues are also affecting Xbox 360s too. Rockstar have now updated their FAQ on the matter, have admitted that it is a fault with their latest title LA Noire and have offered a work around. It should also be noted that the issue with this title is not PS3 specific and is also affecting other consoles.
