Sony’s Purchase of Gaikai for $380 Million
Sony purchased Gaikai for a sum of $380 million. Gaikai was making deals with Samsung to extend the service directly onto televisions and extending it’s presence. It’s possible that Sony was given a similar offer; Sony saw a bigger picture and purchased them instead. The Gaikai service could be re-branded as the new PSN, PlayStation Network powered by Gaikai and add instant gaming experiences to just about any machine running a web browser. Plus, consumers could then buy a game and play it instantly online.
A Gaikai app could be used to bypass the PS3′s limited ram
It has been well documented that the PS3 has limited RAM for the OS. Instead of running it through the browser, Sony could release a Gaikai app for the PS3 similar to that of Netflix or Hulu. Bypass the browser, solve the problem, the hardware could still be used without being upgraded. This extends the longevity of the current consoles and keeps them relevant. If the power of the next PlayStation is really as amazing as being boasted, then that would be expensive to produce, and the longer they wait, the price of the parts decrease. They save more money the longer they wait.

With two weeks left until a Sony event that is being widely tipped as the official announcement of a new PlayStation console, more rumours have today emerged on the estimated launch window and price of the company’s next home device. Citing Japanese-language newspaper Asahi Shimbun, The Verge reported that the PlayStation 4 will release in the US and Japan during 2013, and will cost more than 40,000 yen ($428).
The estimated price is a third cheaper than the PlayStation 3's 2006 launch, which debuted at around 60,000 yen in Japan, $599 in North America, £425 in the UK, and $999 in Australia. No specific information was provided on the launch availability for the PS4 in Europe or Australia, leading to speculation that the silence regarding the device in the latter markets may indicate a later 2014 release.
Other details in the paper's report lend further credibility to earlier rumours that the next PlayStation's controller will include biometric support in the form of a rear touchpad (like that found on the PlayStation Vita), and will be a similar size to the current DualShock 3.
A second report by The Nikkei Business Daily said that the PS4 will include integration of Gaikai's cloud streaming service. Sony acquired the firm for $380 million in mid 2012.
GameSpot contacted Sony for clarification on the two reports, but the company declined, saying that it does not comment on rumour or speculation.

Legat de pretul de vanzare, voi care presupuneti va ar fi pretul de vanzare pentru romania in magazin. Pe langa ca va ajunge mai tarziu decat in alte tari eu ma gandesc la un pret final de vanzare pentru cel mai ieftin model de 1800RON, de exemplu PS Vita, care in State se vinde cu 300$, la noi pretul final de magazin este 1200RON cu tot cu TVA. Si in caz ca o sa se lanseze anul acesta, voi o sa va cumparati sau nu la lansare un PS4, de la noi sau din afara?
