The Alpha Playlist


Alpha is a new playlist incorporated into Gears of War 3 that offers players a familiar, yet different experience from our standard playlists. Here is a breakdown from Epic Games� Level Designer Quinn DelHoyo:
Team Size: 4
Gametypes: Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, Execution
Loadout: Lancer/Gnasher
Weapon Pick-ups: Default with the some custom swaps.
Weapon Respawn: Set to �After Pick-up� with quicker respawn times.

Quinn explains, �Something to keep in mind here is that this is only the first version of Alpha and the success or failure of this playlist is predicated upon how much you (the community) play and contribute to it. So please provide feedback and let us know what you would like to see happen with Alpha�

We are starting an XP event today at 6:00 PM EST that will run through November 14th at 9:00 AM EST. You�ll get DOUBLE XP in all gametypes, so now is the time to rank up and get those unlocks!

In this weekend�s TDM playlist, you will start with Diggers, Gnashers and Boltoks. All weapon spawns will be also be replaced with Diggers, so try to get up-close and personal for those awesome Digger direct hits!

Gears of War 3 Title Update 2 Release Notes

Improvements

• A spectator mode option has been added to private versus matches for broadcasting by gaming leagues.
  • One player on each team will be able to choose spectator mode during match set up.
  • The matches will be 4v4 with two spectators
• The Leader and Vengeful medals are now easier to acquire.
• The mutators Roadie Comet and Regen Enemies are now easier to acquire.
• Added an option to disable the HUD during multiplayer games for machinima and video creators
• Added a visual indicator of the next ring’s location during the last 10 ring points in KOTH.

Exploit Fixes

• The Onyx Field Engineer medal can no longer be prestiged.
• In Capture the Leader, the overhead Beams on DryDock are no longer accessible.
• While affected by the Smoke Grenade stun, players will no longer be able to take hostages, pick up weapons or revive teammates.

General Fixes

• If there is a host migration during Horde, the match will resume at the same wave.
• Also during Horde, the Combat Engineer ribbon can now be achieved once per wave instead of once per game.
• The Ranked Disconnect stat will no longer increase when quitting a standard Horde or Beast game.
• The cringe from the Mortar will no longer cause players to drop their primary weapon.
• The Hail Mary ribbon is now correctly awarded for long distance Boomshot headshots.
• Maps will no longer be immediately repeated when choosing random map selection.
• If the host pauses during a private versus match the game will continue for other players.
  • The game will still pause in the Campaign, Beast and Horde.
• Potential fix for the rare lost progress issue.
• Potential fix for the rare profile freezing issue.
• Beast leaderboard screen no longer refreshes while sending challenges

Gears of War 3 Will Have 2000 Gamerscore

In tonight's Gears of War 3 Live Stream with Rod Fergusson discussing Title Update 2 and the upcoming RAAM's Shadow DLC, it was confirmed (jump to about 23:30) that all four of the DLCs that come within the Season Pass will add 250 Gamerscore, for a total of 1000 extra points, making Gears of War 3 the first Xbox 360 game to reach 2000 Gamerscore.

This #Gearsweekend we�ll be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday with a King of the Hill �Thanksgibbing� event. The King of the Hill playlist will go live this Thursday November 24th at 12:00 PM ET. Shotguns will be replaced with a modified Boomshot known as the �Cluckshot.� Boomshot pick-ups will also be replaced. How is the Boomshot modified to become a Cluckshot? Check the screenshots to find out! The �Thanksgibbing� playlist may well be the noisiest we�ve ever had.


The Gears of War 3 Versus Booster Map Pack will be available for download this Thursday as well! After 12:00 PM EST on Thursday November 24th, players will need to have the pack installed in order to play on all public playlists. You will be prompted to download the maps when joining a playlist, or you can download them from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
